This is probably a much flogged topic but I have searched here and can't find the answer (could be user error of course).

I've seen the Hallmarks Chart and it gives the dates for 1891-1938 and 1969 to present. Can you tell me what happened to hallmark dates between 1939 and 1968 please?

Cheers
Niall

The general consensus is that the traditional hallmark markings were not used between 1938-1968, indeed the K&P shield was the hallmark.
That's interesting. So is that the shamrock, wolfhound, castle and they were not just used on Nickel?

Looks like I'm a bit late to the party...
But, to affirm what has already been said, there are several years in which Peterson was not recording/ Hallmarking their work.

The story continues to state that the company then used the hallmarks to advertise the collectibility of their pipes.

Not sure if this is the answer you're looking for, but it is interesting.

It is interesting. Thanks. I’m still a little confused over whether we can tell whether a pipe has Nickel or Silver within that time. Presumably they marked them with “Silver” alongside the shamrock, wolfhound and Castle?

Can anyone tell me the ISBN of the book please? Just on the off-chance I can find one here rather than the delivery from US

I couldn't find the ISBN number on my copy. I thought it was only available at SmokingPipes. May be sold out.
