Harris, I probably will smoke that one. And don't hate me dervis, I am just a bit disorganized. I know somewhere I still have a box full of pipes from when I dabbled in pipes over 10 years ago. Over 10 years ago I had wrapped each pipe in bubble wrap and packed them away. When we moved into this house three years ago, I saw the box, but for the life of me, I can't recall where I put it. The Jacopo above was packed separately because of the box. I really would love to find the box with those other pipes - I bet I had 20 or so, though I just have no recollection of the brands.

Harris - actually dalla Gemma is part of the SJ name, a google search tells me.
I looked at the Ser Jac and here are the markings in different areas of the shank:
AMBRA

COLTIVATA
MAXIMA
DELECTA
FIAMMATA
GRANATO
Anyone speak Italian?

I actually found another series of words on the shank:
PER ASPERA

AD ASTRA
Now, I don't have a loop, the A in "AD" may be an I
Any thoughts?

peck, awesome pipes. Take a closeup of the 3 little hallmarks on the Pete and we can figure out when it was made; I think the more recent ones come in sets not singles, so I will guess 1980s.
As for the Ser Jacopo, some of the wording is just there to indicate the model, line etc. But "ambra coltivata" means "cultured amber" , suppose it indicates what that shank applique is made of. And "per aspera ad astra" is their motto, and it's Latin for "through difficulties will reach the stars".

Peck - The Ser Jacopo is from the Gem Series of their pipes.
Maxima - Indicates a larger bowl, their largest pipe is stamped Maxima 6 times!
Delecta - I gather indicates the Amber Delecta Mount on your piece. Pipes similar to yours can be found on Gallery 3
Fiammata - Is used for straight grain pipes (though would translate to flames)
Granato - Denotes the series, in this instance Gem Series with Granato meaning Garnet
That's what ya got, pal!

peck, do you think they have enough words on that shank? I owned a Ser Jac years ago and it was a really good smoker. It was very similar to my Castello's and Radice's that I owned at that time. Very cool and dry smoker, mine was a beast of a pipe that I smoked English blends in. It definitely weighed over 100 grams.

Two sweet pipes there Peck. Now you reminded me to go searching my hiding places as well. I don't think I will find anything quite as nice though. And like others have said, to date the precious metal the third stamping would be a letter denoting the year it was stamped.

Keep digging, we want to see more. :D

peckinpahhombre -- Your Mark Twain likely dates to circa 1983-84. Peterson was using that particular packaging for the Mark Twain at that time. Very nice pipe!
Here's an example from 1984:

Oh, and before I forget, take a look at the following chart and see if the "hallmark" that is the farthest to the right of the three hallmarks stamped onto the silver band matches up with anything from the early 80's. ;-)

I would be jealous but I have a Silver and a Gold Mark Twain I bought back in the 80's. The Silver is one of my absolute faves. If you would like to get rid of it pls PM me!
Can't believe you "forgot about it". According to my father the forgetting only get worse. LOL!
