Irish Flake is an outstanding smoke. I get no nic kick detectable by me but is very tasty. Give it a try.
Right on mustanggt and flyguy. I'm into my first tin of IF and I'm a fan.

Well.......now there will be a run on my beloved Irish Flake. Guys don't waste your money, its bad stuff. Tastes like a dob turded in your mouth and the it ages terribly.

Just after smoking my first bowl. Fold and stuff method, could've maybe dried it for about 20 minutes first. Very nice no nonsense tobacco.

I'll have to try this one, coming from cigars I haven't tried many of the strong pipe blends and haven't felt a N kick yet. Being mostly natural tasting with a light anise casing would be nice.

I tried 1792 Flake once! Had an outer body experience. My eyes bugged out on stems and I was seeing little green things running around my yard on one leg.
Never again.
I have also tried Jack Knife Plug and like it in small doses. I smoke it in a group 3 pipe or smaller and sip along.
I have not tried Irish Flake. However, if it is anywhere close to being as potent as 1792, I won't be buying any time soon. I had my brush with fate.

I've never smoked 1792, but in my opinion Irish Flake isn't as strong as Nightcap.

@rothnh What I meant to say was that I get more of a nictoine hit from Nightcap. But it does need to be noted that I have a very high nicotine tolerance. For some reason blends with Perique seen to give me the biggest hit.

I've often used "strong" as a descriptor for either condition. Starbucks uses light, medium, bold and extra bold to describe their coffee's flavor. I like the later two myself so I would have to call IF bold for flavor and high for nicotine. Either way it's an outstanding smoke for me and would have to have that one over all others if I had to choose. Thank god I do not have to make that choice!!! :puffy:

Tried it a while ago and didn't love it, but I've learned a bit more about packing flakes, so it may warrant a revisitting.

Hmmmmm ...... methinks one must have quite the nicotine tolerance to make Irish Flake bite. The bold taste combined with the Vitamin N content forces me to sip the stuff.
1792 is a different blend altogether. A lot trickier to get it to the proper moisture level and packing. Lighter taste, probably the same Nic content. If sipped, it will let you pick out the Tonquin flavor.
