So after some prying I was able to get the price my wife paid for this piece. She paid a total of $380 dollors. My wife is a haggler and the price tag said $440 so she was able to get it for a bit less then they were asking. I have inspected the pipe with a jewelers loop and come to the conclusion that it was gold plated previously. By who and when I have no idea. I have never bought a pipe with a silver cap and band and then proceeded to gold plate the pipe, so the price of the pipe is a mystery to weather she paid to much or not. I would like some advice as to weather she paid to much or got a deal. It is new unsmoked so I know it isn't a cheap pipe by amymeans but even the $380 sound kinda steep. Here are some better pick as well, thank you everyone for the help and awsome links can't read enough of those things lol.View attachment 191320View attachment 191322

that I’m almost certain yours came from the Sherlock Holmes Supreme Gold Mounted series (that was mentioned earlier by another member):
I mean the worth is something I value In the gift I mean what a cool lady to call my wife. But I read that article and was surprised that Peterson went ahead and gold plated sterling which I'm not mad at they had a reason for it. I'll have to thank the wife for having great taste. I'm not a big gold guy except certain instances but mostly silver, platinum, chrome etc. Still yet to call peterson for a bit more info but I'll get to it soon enough. Thank for the help and kind words Jeff I'll be sure to let her know
