Peterson Flake vs Orlik Golden Sliced

I just finished a tin of Peterson Flake, my first Virginia. It really blew my socks off when I ventured to enjoy it in flake form. Has anyone here ever smoked it as well as OGS? I read they are both made in the same factory owned by STG. Is there any difference betwixt the two? I notice that OGS is the number one seller on SmokingPipes.com. Peterson Flake is $5 more for a 50g tin. I am too lazy to spend $12 to try OGS without first making this exploratory post.

They are not the same at all. Peterson Flake is a straight medium Virginia Flake. OGS is A Virginia with a small amount of Perique added. Both are quite good but different.

Oddly enough, I haven't sampled Peterson Flake, but OGS yes - it has a mild citrus flavoring (orange or bergamot?) which some find obstrusive. I like it well enough to have bought more, also the Vintage Aged version, where the stronger virginia flavour suppresses the citrus somewhat.

I'm a big Virginia Flake lover, but I admit that the Peterson didn't knock me out. Maybe it needs some more age on it. The Orlik is wonderful though - and that price is hard to beat! Some others suggestions: Fribourg & Treyer Cut Blended Plug, Newminster Superior Luxury Flake and Capstan Blue.

I am a big fan of both blends, but I prefer OGS > Peterson Flake.
Another wonderful virginia flake is 4th Generation 1989, its some-what similar to OGS in flavor and price.
