A little background...
My wife and I are expecting our first child in July (it's a boy!). I wanted to get a Peterson Father's Day pipe for my first "official" Father's Day next year. But, I wanted it to be a 2012 pipe since it's the year my son will be born. So, I contacted Peterson and found out that the Father's Day pipes were not going to be distributed to the US and in order to get one I had to order it directly through Peterson of Dublin.
So, I contacted the shop and John told me he could only offer me 4 shapes, and none of them were the ones on the Peterson web page. After a lot of back and forth (I still don't understand why he only had certain shapes available, something about them being custom orders and only carved as they were ordered, but I wasn't able to custom order a different shape), John told me he had the guys scour the factory and found the last remaining Father's Day 999 (the one I wanted)!
He shipped it off to me last week, and today I had my new baby waiting in the mailbox! Since it's for Father's Day 2013, the wife made me put it away until next year. But, she did let me take a couple of pictures...
I love to look of this pipe. LOVE the coloring and grain. I also checked the stem and it almost looks like there is a "system" chamber in the stem. I know it's not a system pipe, but it does look like there is a moisture reservoir in there (sorry, no pics, couldn't get one).
