This is another pipe at the auction that I'm not finding alot on through my research. Why the metal top? Any info about it is welcome, some sort of value, worth, age etc. Thanks all.

I have a wind cap on one of my pipes which I find handy if there is a light drizzle - however if I’m honest, a pipe turned upside down works just as well if not better. I really the aesthetic of a mounted windcap, especially the silver one on that Pete, but I find it a pain to smoke with the cap up, and I’m always conscious of condensation gathering on the inside of the cap when it is down

That is certainly a windcap, and that pipe would look very nice once it is all cleaned up.
