Beautiful pipe and congratulations on the retirement! I'm about 20 months in and don't regret it.
I have a derry 68 which I so happen to be smoking at the moment. One of my best pipes, especially for English. I recommend removing the factory bowl coating.

Nice pipe! Welcome to the retirement community, I retired in 2018.
Enjoy the retirement. I retired from my chosen profession back in '87. No complaints so far. Of course I moved into photography so ... I haven't quit work or earning.

Congratulations!! I have been retired for 5 years. I'm loving it but the wive isn't so sure.
I went to visit my parents about 18 months after retirement. It was so wonderful seeing my uptight Yankee puritan engineer father so relaxed, you could see worry lines melting away. However one of the more common phrases I heard that trip was from my mother. "Dear, why don't you take Rookie to ____?" "It's a lovely day, why don't you and Rookie go ___?" "Goddammit, Rookie Sr.! Don't you have some work to do?"
408 is one of my favorite Peterson shapes; I have several in various styles.
Really?? Apparently Peterson considers is a hybrid shape using the author, prince, and apple components.
Enjoy your well-earned retirement, and may the 408 prove to be a faithful companion in your ensuing years.
If anyone is still following, my first Peterson is due today. I’ve been advised to cost the bowl with honey(yuk) or sand off the coating. Of course I could just load and smoke.
I think timely retirement is a good idea. However, don't expect life to necessarily slow down. I expected long sleepy afternoons deciding whether to read a book, and which book, or to take a walk or listen to music. When you get to schedule yourself, you may turn out to be something of a slave driver. So remember to slow down and enjoy yourself with that handsome pipe. And congratulations!

408 are nice pipes. I usually smoke English/Balkan out of it. They call it tomato, some call it Irish Prince. Good pipe

I just noticed that this model is sold out at my dealer. Perhaps others also liked this Peterson model.
