With any Peterson, my faves are 03 and 69, bent apple and bent billiard. To my eye they seem a wonderful expression of two classic shapes.

Glad you decided on the 999. My first Peterson (and first pipe other than a basket pipe) was a 999 and it still serves me well. Something about the thickness of the bowl just feels really comfortable in my hand. Here's hoping yours serves you well for many years to come!

@kingjon

The shapes 106 (billard) and 03 are both appealing to me, and most probably they'll be my next purchase (in 1,2,3... years).
@kiltedpiper

Thank you very much.

Congrats on your choice!
My two favorite shapes are the 999 and 03. I like the way they hang and the size of the bowls.
This is true for me, too, but reversed. I love the 03 and it is my default shape for Christmas pipes, etc. The 999 is awesome too! I snagged one of the old style ones a while back and love it.
Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

My personal favorite shapes for Peterson is first and foremost the 68! That was my first non basket pipe. It is a timeless shape the way it hangs, weight, bowl size, how it fits my hand all perfect in my humble opinion. Next is the XL02 I love the saddle stem, the chunky design, large bowl, hand fit, and hangs nice too. I love the 03 as I mentioned earlier. I want a 999 badly lol. I just have a warm fuzzy spot for Peterson. I will say there have been some QC issues, I have seen the pics and read the posts here. But I personally have not had any issues. I do only buy from a local BM store or Smokingpipes.com. So I inspect them or SP.com does. I have Dunhills, Ferndowns, Ropp, BC, Al Pascia, Brebbia, Nording, Savinelli, Rossi, couple of sweet 2 Savory's I salvaged from a Farmers market, Vauen, meerschaums heck one a Cutty is about 113 yrs old amazing little smoker, some custom pipes, Clark Layton, is my favorite among those. To name a few. End state I have a couple pipes from many famous Carver's and I love them all! But when it is time for a new pipe, I always check Peterson first lol.
