Wanted to share with the other Pete Geeks that the new Barley Spigot line was released today.

Laudisi describes the bowls for Peterson's Barley Spigot series as being hand-selected in the factory for their consistency and better candidates for a true natural tanblast. They have Peterson's trademark sterling silver spigots as well as black acrylic stems.

They look nice. I just ordered one from Smoking Pipes.

Has Peterson always just changed the colors of something and then called it a new "line"? just curious. Nothing wrong with that, but I am just feeling out the Peterson "thing."
Well I guess this fits into a theme with several colours of spigots being listed as their own lines:

Barley Spigot
Green Spigot
Ebony Spigot
Red Spigot
Walnut Spigot

Just to add to the fun and games I think some lines had/have different names in different countries. I've seen comments to the effect that some lines were renamed for (or even produced exclusively for) the Italian distributors.

I like natural and blasted. Hmmm, maybe if they had it in the 406 or 408 but don’t see any.

I like briar pipes that color as you smoke, more than just the usual aging. I'd be interested to see how these look in a year or two. Sometimes you get a deep walnut stain look, and even later it will develop a polished look. With the metal work that would be nice although they are handsome new.

You’re right, and I screwed up. I meant 606 or 608, pot shapes.

I thought you were making a critical observation. Is that considered criticism? Me not know. ?
No, I was just asking.
I did come back about not envying the guy who has to cut the same shape all the time. That might be a criticism of sorts, but not to the pipes.

I have said several times that it’s obvious that Peterson seems to be trying to up their game. I really like the spigots.

Regarding a finish or color change as a new line, sure. That's how it's done in the PipeWorld. Dunhill's Tanshell, Shell, Bruyere, Root, and etc. lines all have the same shape numbers.

Savinelli uses the same shape numbers across all finishes as well. Punto Oro, Guibileo d'Oro, and so on.

As for Pete combining a natural sandblast with Lots-O-Glorious-Silver.... HELL YEAH! The dash of barbaric splendor that silver adds to classic shapes is always welcome (provided it is tightly applied and tastefully done.)

I call this line a 100% win in every way.
