I’m happy with the rusticated I picked up on SP EU but I have to be, lol. After the frantic response to noticing on the hardwood floor evidence our pup was having her first heat cycle I forgot about the release! Kind of put me off the Ruas anyway.

OK I'm NOT happy, lol. My order was cancelled!

I'm really sorry to hear this. It also happened during the POTY drops in 2021, 2022 and 2023. I was hoping the problem was solved. I ordered two and when I called to change my shipping address, they confirmed that mine are being mailed tomorrow, so we're good for now.

Hopefully you were able to re-order and get one?

Well I did indeed order another one, but it just isn't the same gem that I was able to snag the first time

Yeah, if you're a clencher-I'm not-probably wouldn't work well for you. I'd be interested were it not for other $ priorities right now.
Wow, that lip really is low and ill-defined as per the note far above............
It won't bother me at all I don't clench off the bit dangling from my teeth anyways, never have. My other B stems have a similar p lip and they all clench just fine.
I wonder how much of the “ill-defined” lip is an artifact of the photography. If it were my job, I would focus on the stummel, not the stem.
After 3 failed attempts i was finally able to complete my purchase :)
I hope you got what you were after. I was interested in the silver caps, but they were too pricey. I was spared temptation by the speed at which they sold out.

Same happened to me - I spotted a gorgeous Rua, then when I tried to buy it, found 'sold'. I tried two more times, then went toward one of the last ones on the list and nabbed it! I think I accidentally got lucky.

What a fucking shamozzle, had a pipe in my cart and it was taken out whilst I paid for the thing. Surely once its in your cart you have some grace to put in payment details and yes I was logged in.
It's a segment-locking issue that was solved back in the 1980's - as a fledgling programmer, I had to test for such things and would have had my peepee whacked if a problem like that occurred in production.

I fear this is cold comfort, but even the humbler finishes are good pipes to snag. I got a rusticated - it struck me as a good deal for the guts of a Deluxe System in a pipe I can feel comfortable smoking while on the move out-of-doors. Heck, it even comes with a vulcanite stem.

Peterson will be releasing the 2024 POY in the next few days Mark Irwin reports. Full info and pictures here:

If the shape joins the catalog, I'll hold out for a version with the tapered AB stem.

But first, Peterson needs to fire or retrain the person doing their P-lip stem buttons. They are so worn. My 2023 POY Rua PSB pipe came with such a worn button, that I contacted Peterson, and sent the pipe back to Ireland for a new stem that was slightly better.
I can't accept this P-lip profile. I'm more of a hang on the edge of my teeth than a hard clencher,so perhaps it's just me.

This is distressing - I was wondering if the photos of these buttons was an optical illusion or horrid photography. But...if mine arrives like that I will sharpen it with a knife and sandpaper. I have to do that frequently with estate repairs, and it's not that big of a deal (once you've done it a few times). If I have to do it I'll post some 'before & after' pics so that others will be confident performing the surgery.

Also, it's not just you. I am not a clencher, but these buttons just look like poor workmanship.

Lol, I appreciate the comfort my friend. I did look afterwards and picked up a terracotta finish. I still am hopeful that Smokingpipes will come good on their error and fix it for me.

I have gotten the Terracotta finish for the last three releases, but at the last second went Rua instead. I don't know why - it just happened . But I am sure you will love the Terracotta - it's my favorite Peterson finish.

You guys realize the stems are molded and not hand cut, right? The amount of time it would take to hand cut 1100 tapered p lip stems for this release alone would be... well, yeah. I digress...

Also decided I needed a Heritage to go with the Terracotta on its way from Dublin, Terracotta for Va's and VaPers and a Heritage for 1792 Flake exclusively 🤤

Well, I guess my optimism based on the possibility of photographic distortions of the p-lip profile was misplaced. Making the profile more defined is, as you say, fortunately feasible.

That Heritage is sharp!

As for the stems, I don’t think many will write off the stems’ lack of definition as a trade off for the lower prices pre-molded stems allow. My cheap Falcon, Imperial, and basic Missouri Meerschaum stems are sharply defined and sometimes have too-large proportions. If the stems are as bad as alleged, there is likely some other reason than molding.

I had a whirlwind of a day yesterday and completely forgot about the release. I later found out via email that I was fortunate enough to have a couple reserved for me in my cart as long as I picked them up prior to the drop, which I completely forgot about because I was dealing with other things. In fact, I was so busy, I didn't even check my email until about 9:00 p.m. last night. Nothing that's left appeals to me, so I guess we missed out on POTY this year. Makes me exceedingly happy that I picked up the Sherlock a few weeks back.

I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures of everyone's pipes when they arrive in the post.
