OK... requires a story, so gather round....

This ol' man, see I have four children, now grown, all of 'em had orthodonture work. I was one of those people (back in the day) that drove around with the dentist's office magnet advertising on back of vehicle & honestly forgot it was there.

Well, apparently if you do that & are "seen" you are placed in a monthly lottery for a monthly winner and then are in the annual drawing for free orthodonture. Well, unbeknownst to me, I was a monthly winner. I found out when I got a call for the annual. I went, and ...yep they drew my name.

SO... although I had perfect teeth as a kid, after wisdom teeth were removed, some movement took place back in the molars, shifted my bite etc... I know... TOO MUCH INFO...
Cut to chase, the ortho & regular dentist together worked up a plan to "fix" issues. INCLUDING BRACES...

Well, I had the year before, begun smoking a pipe in earnest.
I did NOT wanna ruin my stems, with a sharp metal mouth, ...

Soooooo, SOFTY BITS went on all I had. I grew accustomed to them and know, though metal is gone form mouth, my concern about the replaced parts of some teeth has caused them to remain on my pipes AND be placed on new ones as
"I've grown Accustomed to their Place".

Ok, now all you who are still awake after story time, y'all ged on off to bed quietly and let ALL the ones who nodded off to sleep during this long winded codger's story just snooze in peace.

The Bent 160th I ordered showed up today. I paid the lowest tier above free shipping. I was surprised it showed today! It’s a gorgeous piece with some nice 3D depth like a marble. In hand pics will be posted soon.
There’s going to be a bit of scuttlebutt over the stem for sure. Especially the bent. It feels a bit cramped with little adjustment. It’s not uncomfortable but it just kind of locks into a singular position. Lucky for me I hold my pipes 98% of the time so I’m not bugged in the least. Definitely going to be interesting to hear what people think. Fit and finish is extremely good. I’m going to start looking through what straights are left.

I don't clench either. But, the stem aesthetically didn't work for me as it as chubbier than I like.

Well, okay... I arrived home after running morning errands & see ARRIVED from Dublin via UPS were the 160th Anniversary Pipes. The Pat B 1974/2400 Dark Smooth bent & the PatOB 1434/2400 Rusticated straight. I am VERY happy with them. Late Sunday 2AM order time helps. It was VERY fa$t delivery!

That last one also completes a ‘selection’ of ‘textured’ short straights'. The stunningly grained Captain Pete 107 Chubby, the 2013 superbly Sandblasted Antique commemorative PatOB & the new 160th Anniversary Rusticated. All feel great in hand.

Currently smoking the Rusticated PatOB 160th, AND yes, the stem IS a tad 'chunky' but... THIS is a great smoking pipe. Kramers Extra Smooth is 'oh so VERY tasty" in the bowl .

These are NOT the truly important things in life at all. I am SO grateful for the big things & so very thankful for these little things. I am ending this 160th celebrations with gratitude & determination to NOT add to my pipe companion group in ‘26 without first downloading some pipes beforehand.

The PetersonPipeNotes POY'25 (PPN) is due before Christmas & I am aware just how very blessed I am. thankful.

Nice pipes. I'm amazed that SmokingPipes hasn't even processed my order yet. I contacted them yesterday and they said 'as soon as possible', then again today and they have no estimate on even when they will ship.

This is why I normally order from SmokingPipes Europe - the pipes actually arrive quicker. Mine are being shipped 2nd Day Air, which means absolutely nothing if you don't ship.

#458 landed today (shocking processed thru the USPS mess in New Orleans in one day).

The wife scooped up the box to be wrapped for under the tree.

The stem work and button are pretty decent.

My Sandblast was listed on SP at 59 grams. Weighed on my scale, it's 47 grams (I'm happy, smaller better).

I’m sitting here watching Gold Rush, and I was just thinking how much I liked the 160th Anniversary shapes. Maybe it was talk of the old timers on GR…

Well, I thought I’d get one more. I wasn’t sure if I wanted another straight or a bent… and I’m not a big fan of the current rustication. However, looking at some of the rusticated examples, the rustication appears to be more appealing than it has to me in the past. I ended up picking this gnarly bent… kinda get a Marxman vibe from it. A good codger blend pipe.

My only complaint with this release… the excessively light stamping. It’s barely readable. I doubt it would take many passes with a buffing wheel to obliterate it.

The Peterson's stamp is pretty light. Or is that an engraving of sorts? It is different than the number and COM stamp. I do wish they would offer a different stain on the sandblast finish pipes,

Good choices. The Barleys were at the top of my screen when the pipes showed up. I should have gotten one, as they were gone by the time I'd grabbed the 'must haves'.

Are they laser-etched?

That's a great thought regarding stains on the blasted, but they did offer Rua and Barley, which are both blasted. Maybe offer a dark brown? I was sort of surprised they didn't do a smooth black.

Yours seems to have been stamped deeper than mine were… higher number as well. Maybe the press was adjusted as they were marked.

As for stain (or lack thereof, the Barley was an option).

I use a buffing wheel often; I just don’t get carried away with it; mostly to apply wax.
