I get it, but in keeping with the idea of "that's what makes a horserace", this is a refreshingly different pipe design from them, and I applaud their taking a chance at alienating some of their customers. Sales have proven it to be a good idea.

If I'm counting correctly, they've sold 2104 out of the 2400 singles and all 75 of the sets.
If you (anyone) haven’t already check out the Peterson Pipe Notes blog. There was a lot of work, years, that went into reviving these shapes. After reading about the process it would be ponderous if they didn’t put it into regular rotation.

Here's a 1923 MS that I think is very close to the straight one. We'll see.

Much prefer that stem as it's not as chubby.
True, but it's also pudgy - the stem is a little thicker and shorter than any of my other straight billiards. I guess I like the weirdness of the 160th stems - I have so many Petersons that it takes creativity like this to get me to buy a new one.

Hey, no one's jumped in to tell us they hate p-lips - what the heck's going on!?!?!

Right, I forgot about the p-lip haters (aka weirdo's).

The beautiful aspect of the P-lip stem is that the button has to be consistent in dimensions, so even with a pudgy stem, it ends in a slim P-lip (I hope).

Well, okay... I arrived home after running morning errands & see ARRIVED from Dublin via UPS were the 160th Anniversary Pipes. The Pat B 1974/2400 Dark Smooth bent & the PatOB 1434/2400 Rusticated straight. I am VERY happy with them. Late Sunday 2AM order time helps. It was VERY fa$t delivery! 🙃

That last one also completes a ‘selection’ of ‘textured’ short straights'. The stunningly grained Captain Pete 107 Chubby, the 2013 superbly Sandblasted Antique commemorative PatOB & the new 160th Anniversary Rusticated. All feel great in hand.

Currently smoking the Rusticated PatOB 160th, AND yes, the stem IS a tad 'chunky' but... THIS is a great smoking pipe. Kramers Extra Smooth is 'oh so VERY tasty" in the bowl .puffy

These are NOT the truly important things in life at all. I am SO grateful for the big things & so very thankful for these little things. :sher: I am ending this 160th celebrations with gratitude & determination to NOT add to my pipe companion group in ‘26 without first downloading some pipes beforehand.

The PetersonPipeNotes POY'25 (PPN) is due before Christmas 🎄 & I am aware just how very blessed I am. 🙌🏼 thankful.
AND that is the update from Nevada!

😃 be well O’ Brethren of the Briar!
Have a Merry Christmas season, enjoy your families & all the various celebrations you partake in. 😍160thPatOBr&PatBds.jpgShortStraightsTextureCollection.jpg

You must have special status! It's AN Post only (no other option allowed) for any time I order and the tracking system they use now is really, really bad. If I follow their link, my package is coming from China and expected in 2022, lol - fact, I'll have it before they even thought of the series. I sent SP EU an email because I had a tracking experience the last time I ordered that was pretty bad. It was never great before but it's gotten much worse with their change in delivery "partner".

Well, SP EU says they sent the wrong pipe, which explains why they sent a tracking link that was no longer usable but they didn't think to let me know what was going on - they said they'd sort it out whenever the pipe gets back to them, which could take quite a awhile. That's a little strange and not acceptable to me - they should have already sent the pipe I ordered, getting the other one back as they indicate they've arranged, it's not like it's going to show up here at this point. First customer service glitch I've ever had with SP EU but I've indicated if they don't still have the numbered pipe I ordered and aren't going to ship my order, as they should have done already, then just cancel the order. Oh well.

Naw, no special status...
I am Silver VIP but that is 10% discount, no shipping privileges.

School of hard knocks with AN Post over the years.
I had several pipes take that route and end up 'who knows where' ...until they eventually reached me.

Since the tariffs I have ONLY used UPS from Dublin. The 'AN nightmare' was far too commonplace & the first 2 post tarrif experiences were unacceptable.

With UPS shipping it is just days and the 'tarrif' while not making me happy is done simply and efficiently. The AN Post takes (took over a month for tariff & then 3 weeks for arrival) I refused the second one order digitally after 3 weeks when AN Post notified me for tariff. Looking ahead at calendar to 2.5 weeks of waiting, I said I was NOT gonna pay it as no-one would be here to accept it & sign for international package.

It went back to K&P where I repurchased one of those pipes & another THIS TIME having them sent via UPS. It has worked well. And NOW... USPS shows my PPN is 'out for delivery" today so this may mark the new last pipe purchase for a loooong while! :sher:

Federica Bruno & her team at SPeu are THE BEST! Very helpful & responsive to email inquiries. As a 9mm & P-lip CPG, Dublin is what I have had to do over the years, that outlier combo is pretty rare in North America & almost never found in the wild.

Peterson & Laudisi, in my view did GREAT for Pete Geeks this 160th Anniversary year. Truly exceptional choices this year. I may need to get all the 2025 pipes I acquired for a photo.

Enjoy the counting down of Advent & may the Season be joyful, blessings to all CPG's across the globe!

I was surprised to see softy bits on these ebonite, not acrylic, stems. Did you try smoking them without one and find it uncomfortable or do you just prefer the softy bits, regardless? Thanks.

I've always had good customer service experiences with SP EU until this one and it's a bit odd. Refusing to send the pipe I paid for and that they are obligated to send until the one they mistakenly sent makes its way back to them just isn't reasonable. Not my fault they've got a pipe hanging in the wind, mine should have been sent when they discovered the mistake, which was apparently before I even asked about it. I'll quit the whining, haha, but not feeling as cheery as the Christmas card they sent me right now. If they get it sorted I'll happily relay that info as well, but in the meantime it's Day 4 of the Rua hostage situation.

The Bent 160th I ordered showed up today. I paid the lowest tier above free shipping. I was surprised it showed today! It’s a gorgeous piece with some nice 3D depth like a marble. In hand pics will be posted soon.
There’s going to be a bit of scuttlebutt over the stem for sure. Especially the bent. It feels a bit cramped with little adjustment. It’s not uncomfortable but it just kind of locks into a singular position. Lucky for me I hold my pipes 98% of the time so I’m not bugged in the least. Definitely going to be interesting to hear what people think. Fit and finish is extremely good. I’m going to start looking through what straights are left.

OK... requires a story, so gather round.... 🎸

This ol' man, see I have four children, now grown, all of 'em had orthodonture work. I was one of those people (back in the day) that drove around with the dentist's office magnet advertising on back of vehicle & honestly forgot it was there.

Well, apparently if you do that & are "seen" you are placed in a monthly lottery for a monthly winner and then are in the annual drawing for free orthodonture. Well, unbeknownst to me, I was a monthly winner. I found out when I got a call for the annual. I went, and ...yep they drew my name.

SO... although I had perfect teeth as a kid, after wisdom teeth were removed, some movement took place back in the molars, shifted my bite etc... I know... TOO MUCH INFO...
Cut to chase, the ortho & regular dentist together worked up a plan to "fix" issues. INCLUDING BRACES... 😁

Well, I had the year before, begun smoking a pipe in earnest.
I did NOT wanna ruin my stems, with a sharp metal mouth, ...

Soooooo, SOFTY BITS went on all I had. I grew accustomed to them and know, though metal is gone form mouth, my concern about the replaced parts of some teeth has caused them to remain on my pipes AND be placed on new ones as
🎼 "I've grown Accustomed to their Place"🎶.

Ok, now all you who are still awake after story time, y'all ged on off to bed quietly and let ALL the ones who nodded off to sleep 💤during this long winded codger's story just snooze in peace.
Thanks for the question... often codger's can feel invisible.
G'nite....puffy it's time for a pipe.... 👍
