Anyone else have issues with PS aromatics? I used to have tongue bite issues with the pipe but over time I have gotten really good at packing, drying and cadence. I also started using charcoal filters and I have not been bitten in months. I have some bulk PS aros in jars and yesterday and today I had a couple bowls and I can feel the bite a little. I am beginning to wonder if there is a topping that they use that disagrees with me. Back when I was a beginner I got bit by PS Nougat once in a big way. Thoughts? BTW - I can smoke Boswells aros, and other tinned aros without a problem.

Yep, they all bite me. No matter how dry, no matter the filter type, pipe, or how slow I smoke. I can't smoke PS Nougat, but Newminster's version of the same blend I can puff like a freight train with no bite(and I do). I unfortunately can't really do any of the Lane Ltd. stuff either. My mouth "chemistry" just doesn't mix. First 3-4 puffs after lighting and I can already feel that tell-tale tingle of doom.

I've been on quite an aromatic kick lately and I have PS Nougat and Optimum on hand neither of which I've had a problem with.

Lately I've been smoking Eric Stokkebye's Morning Blend and while it seems like its never going to dry out (at least in this humidity) its also been a pleasant bite free smoke.

I smoke most of my aro's out of a Vauen Duett with a 9mm vauen activated charcoal filters. Pretty impressed with this pipe it has amazingly accurate drilling for a factory pipe, might get another one.

As far as "Nougat" flavored pipe tobacco's go I'm not really that impressed with the PS version (I only bought it because I heard they used it on the set of LOTR) but Gawith Hoggarth's Kentucky Nougat actually has a really nice nougat flavour going on. No bite.

They get me good, also. The worst ones were a Honey blend and something called Sweet Vanilla or something similar (can't really remember exactly). They were both VA based without much (or any) Black Cav. They both had a great taste and the best room aromas ever, but I couldn't smoke them for more than 5 minutes. Usually the initial light caused that "tingle" where you know the worst is yet to come. I've stayed away from their aromatics ever since.

Many PS aros have Burley which some people cannot tolerate because of the higher nitrate levels. Try one without burley and see if that is the issue.

Sometimes cube cut if I’m not careful, but nothing that’s impossible to deal with.
