Since I immediately hijacked this thread with an awful joke, let me try to get it back on track.

If anyone has a shot at making great Perique in Laos, it's Mark Ryan. It wouldn't surprise me at all if, five years from now, people are clamoring for his product to be used by western tobacco companies.

(Hey, I sound optimistic. It's been a while since I've had a positive outlook on much of anything. Feels good.)

I'm already clamoring, just very quietly.
About the same volume that I clamor for a meerschaum pipe made of our inferior American meerschaum, or for cigars with kasturi filler.
