Pipes, Tobacco & Whiskey YouTube channel read a January industry press release tonight noting that Mark Ryan partnered with Tsuge Pipes to use his proprietary methods to grow and process Perique tobacco for the Asian market in the country of Laos. Should be interesting to see how it compares with St. James Parish Perique

If anyone has a shot at making great Perique in Laos, it's Mark Ryan. It wouldn't surprise me at all if, five years from now, people are clamoring for his product to be used by western tobacco companies.

(Hey, I sound optimistic. It's been a while since I've had a positive outlook on much of anything. Feels good.)

I'm already clamoring, just very quietly.
About the same volume that I clamor for a meerschaum pipe made of our inferior American meerschaum, or for cigars with kasturi filler.
