I’m primarily an English smoker but I would like to get into blends that contain a sizable chunk of perique. I like all tobaccos but am not much into Kentucky. Any recommendations?

Maybe you can try an English that has some periqie. Like Artisan's blend or Sunset harbor. You can't go wrong with a Vaper

Try D&R Rimboche AP or SJ, not heavy in the perique but a great showcase of it.

GL Pease Haddo's Delight is no slouch in the perique department and offers and interesting Va/Bur/Per + Rum option.

Haunted Bookshop is a good example of a Perique-driven blend where the Va and Burleys don't take over the flavor of the perique.

For a spicy Va/Per, Samuel Gawith St. James Flake can be quite hot in the perique department.

I like perique with Orientals, so Low Country Waccamaw and Warped: The Red Hunt fit my tastes.

Escudo is popular, I'm ambivalent about the current stuff.

Formers straight gran Flake has a good showing of perique.

If you like alot of Latakia, Quiet Nights has perique. I like the buttery nature and less latakia of Chelsea Morning more.

Watch City Rouxgaroux is being released on Halloween, and is an outstanding Va/Per with a dark fruity/wine-like casing that works really really well.

Elizabethan is a good Peterson option, but I recommend Elizabethan Match (now called match Victorian) by Sutliff.

The world is your perique oyster my friend.

There's more than one direction you can go and plenty of options in every direction.

One direction is, if you like English blends look for any English that contains Perique. Nightcap and Artisan's Blend are great options. Another great option is Wilke Blood Red English.

Another direction is VaPers. Man there are so many great VaPers it's hard to think of them all. I love WCC Old Dominion, SG St Games Flake, GH&C Louisiana Flake, GH&C Scotch Flake, and DT Salty Dogs just for starters.

And if you order salty dogs you might as well get ascanian #1 and/or #2
Only if ordering from Europe. They're not available in the US.

Ascanian #2 is one of my absolute favorite blends and I cellared it pretty heavily to help offset the overseas shipping cost.

If you want to stay in the English vein with a hearty perique kick I suggest C&D Mountain Camp or Super Balkan. If you want a departure from English I’d recommend C&D Bayou Morning Flake, Old Joe Krantz, and if you want to be bowled over by perique...Bayou Night. Peterson Deluxe Navy Rolls are pricey but very good. D&R Rimboche SJ is also very good and reasonably priced.

Bayou Morning : 25% Perique
+1 for the flake version, the only C&D tobacco i genuinely rate up there, a Perique bomb, extremely tasty.

Ascanian no2 Shanez mentions is an incredible blend, but no Perique bomb, just balanced.

If you want a real hydrogen bomb of nicotine and flavour, and are in Europe, look for Motzek Tom’s Dark Twist, a 1:1 Perique/Kentucky rope that’ll put hair on your chest and burn your nostrils :)
