Perfect for me, that is. No idea where your tastes lie. I'd have bought this pipe in a heartbeat if it were not for one thing. Whoever put the "embellishment" on the shank, seemingly as a demented afterthought, should have the sh*t slapped out of him. I do not understand the almost militant low IQ need to deface a wall with graffiti, nor do I understand this. I'd pay maybe 50 bucks for the pipe. Apparently I'm not alone: the pipe has been sitting on the site forever.

On another thread someone suggested that the rings on a rhodesian or bulldog were possibly to provide a cooler place to hold the pipe ... maybe the maker was trying to duplicate that idea. But i agree it seems a waste and anti-artistic if that's a word or concept. Otherwise a nice pipe for the right price ... make an offer, see what happens.

No Burleybreath is referring to the gouges . . . err I mean 'carving', around the stem, not the rings on the bowl.

It's been one of my biggest gripes with IMP. Take a beautiful classic pipe and carve something unfortunate into it or even more frequently, stick some hideous stem on it.

How do you know it hasn't been purchased due to the ugly stem?

I had no idea. Thanks for telling me. No way I'll be buying one of those then.

But it seems like Altinay's "spigot" is real?View attachment 148992
Yep, but make sure they are listed as a spigot. I've avoided Altinay just because they tend to be smaller than I like. Nothing wrong with IMP, their carvers just get a bit silver happy and their pipes that appear to be spigots are never listed as such.
