I have grown fond of Peretti Boston Slices, and have ordered 8 ounces that I intend to store for aging. Does anyone have any experience with how these tins hold a seal over the long term?
I've heard good things about the cans and I'm thankful to hear your experience, Ash.
I've accrued 6 or 8 paint cans in trade and haven't opened any of them yet.
So much tobacco, so little time..... ::
Those Peretti tins seem solid. The other question you may want to consider is do you want to store 8 ounces that long and then smoke it at once when you open the tin? Or would it be better to break it down in smaller portions now to be opened at different times in the future?
I like those Boston Slices myself.
I remember as a kid, milk powder, netstle's mil formula and other choco/malt milk mixes used to come in the same tins. They were always air tight and needed some sort of lever (spoon handle) to open them.
Cheers,
A lot of German blends come in those cans too, I have been a bit worried about them sitting on the shelf yet don’t really want to jar them up. I haven’t gotten to the point where I use a food sealer... yet...
If you're concerned at all about it, another alternative is to buy some 1 gallon mylar bags and seal it in one of those. I bought a number of 5 gallon bags and put all kinds of different tins in those for extended storage.
Cosmic posted a picture of his Perriti cellar. He had the tins stored in those latch top acrylic jars, two tins per jar. (At least I think it was Cosmic). Expensive storage but it looked pretty cool.
