Well all the hype iv'e seen regarding Penzance, a member on here sent me some to try as a trade. Thank you Zanthal! While i find Penzance ok, i just am missing the "Wonderful Greatness" of it. Is it truly that great, or is it more the idea of smoking this much sought after fine blend. Understand please that i am not dissing Penzance, i am just after many people's opinions. That is, afterall, what we are here for.

I wouldn't call you guys crazy because you all don't really like it as tastes are an individual thing. I happen to love Penzance, but I'm sure it's like any other blend out there, it isn't for everyone. As always, YMMV.

Well as we all know, different people like different things. Your lack luster experience with Penzance is similar to the one I had with SG FVF. I tried both Penzance and FVF based on comments made here by others. Penzance for me was a homerun, FVF not so much. Like you said, alot of hype surrounds many tobacs but at the end of the day your taste buds have the final say as to what tastes good to you.

+1 w/Mark...I do LOVE Penzance myself but find a little dry time (a few hours) really

makes the difference in bringing out all the great flavors it has to offer,

as with all blends some dry time is needed and some need to be "dust" dry and I find

flake-styles need much longer dry-times...otherwise a muted smoke you

will have along with a steam'in/burn in ur mouth ;-) learned all my valuable

lessons over the past year...

I really enjoy it, however I do not enjoy the terrible breath it gives me for a day later. It's by far the strongest after taste.

Haven't tried it... and it's not on my shortlist either. Like Paul, I have an issue with Lats....
tastes are an individual thing
No man has spoken truer words than that ! If it weren't the case, we'd all be smoking the same tobacco, drinking the same booze and be all married to the same gal (or guy). And where would that leave us I wonder ;-)

I like Penzance, but I don't think I'd cross a busy street for it if I had some other choices. I have a few pounds in the cellar to see how it ages. I'm finding right now that Plum Pudding seems to scratch an itch nothing else has been able to.

Individual tastes and all, not surprising that it doesn't knock it out of the park for ya fisher.
My one and only tin didn't impress me either at first. But after allowing to dry as SD mentions above it took on a whole new character.

I also love Penzance, but it will never be an everyday smoke because of its ability to stay in your mouth for a day after smoking it. There have been a few blends that people rave about that I didn't think were that great, its like anything else people taste are different.

Yeah, straight out of the tin, it's a little damp for an English and I like Magnum Opus and Black House more, but I think it's a solid baccy with a good flavor.
