I'd also recommend one of the older Laphroaigs, if the 10 year doesn't agree with you. The difference between 10 and 16 is remarkable, and the Cask Strength is a favorite of a friend of mine.

You still can! But you'd need to wear a kilt with nothing on underneath lol. No boxers, no jockstraps, no thongs -bare-assed! LOL!!

Have you had Ardbeg's Uigeadail? It's really good.
Also, why do the water adders always try to make everyone else do this? It's not new, so it's not something I have never heard of. I know, people add water. But stop telling me to! I really don't care at all who does and what sort of whatever it does for the scotch. I don't want water in mine. Young, old, cask strength, don't matter. You keep your water to yourself!

No offence, I don't think anyone was instructing anyone to do anything. I was simply pointing out what Scotsmen in kilts, 'bare assed' do. amusing no? lol
BTW undecagon, if you are drinking neet cask strength malts and smoking, I'd like to take a look at your oesophagus with an endoscope sometime - it must me made of stainless steel!! LOL
Yes to the Ardbeg's special; it's a great dram, and there are many people thankful that Ardbeg, by public demand! was not allowed to go out of business!!!!!

My personal favorites are:
PEATY = Laphroaig Quarter Cask

FRUITY = Dalwhinnie 15

SWEET = Tobermory 10 / Glenlivet 12

No offense taken! I just get told to add H2O so often, I decided it was time for a playful rant.
And it's worth noting a large percentage of my body is 100% adamantium!!

You may want to give Longrow Peated Campbeltown Single Malt Whisky a try.

I have a bottle and really enjoy it.

Another option I've heard of but haven't tried is Bruichladdich's Octomore series which is listed on their website as being "Super Heavily Peated"

Sounds like Saturday... :D
As for the water, I was skeptical as well - until I actually tried it. :D

If you don't wish to, by all means don't (I still shudder at the idea of ice cubes...) - but it really does make a difference.

@phred, you are absolutely right - whether or not you add 5%-10% water, malt must be drunk at room temp, NO ICE!!

Ice is ok in a blended whisky, if you must!
FYI, when I was at college I worked as a barman in the "Circle Bar" in Edinburgh's Cafe Royal, so called because the ancient wooden bar formed a complete circle behind which the barmen used to shelter when fights broke out lol (a bit like the wagon train circle when the Indians were attacking!!)
Anyway, the oldsters used to order a nip or glass of "The Famous Grouse" (a great blend) with 10% lemonade (aka Seven Up). But to show you how mean (aka thrifty - tight as a duck's bottom) these local Jocks were, they ordered it neet, paid for it, then asked us to add a little lemonade for free (otherwise it would have cost them an extra penny!). It was a pretty rough bar in those days, so I always did as asked - I valued my front teeth LOL
Anyway I tried it, and you know - it works!!

Ardbeg 10 is my go to when I cannot find Lagavulin 16. LOTS of smoke.
Talisker is wonderful -- maybe my third favorite Scotch and tremendously drinkable. But it is not actually an Islay. It's the only distillery on the smaller Isle of Skye.
