Dorky question, but once the can is swollen, is it time to go ahead and enjoy the fermentation, or can you let it age some more for even better results? Maybe this is rhetorical since once you open it, and smoke it, that's that. But, any ideas?
The last tin of GL Pease Navigator I opened had swelled up pretty good. I opened it and the tobacco was perfect. It was a 6 year old tin.
