Tracking is fine but if the postal delivery person fails to scan, you get ripped !
Well anything with a tracking number is suppose to get scanned, i use informed delivery and with hundreds of deliveries over the last few years i think I’ve gotten one delivery thar never got scanned, the thing that bugs me is when they scan it delivered and it’s not delivered and it shows up the next day, like they are playing with the SLA, that’s happened 3 or 4 times.

what my delivery list has looked like the last couple months ?

Steve, I will give you the advice that my father gave me when I opened my first business. There is a line you never cross that could land you in jail. However there are hundreds of ways to make things work for you with the right accountant and estate attorney. I have had my guys for well over 20 years and was never audited. Sure I played games but I never went over the line. If I was caught I was prepared to pay any penalties or fines and chalked it up to the price of doing business.

My father owned his own corporate law firm in Boston for over 40 years and ha also had his masters in taxation. When he was doing big deals with clients, they had one accountant whose job it was to make sure no one could go to prison. No one cared about fines and penalties because if thigs are done right the IRS rarely audits you.

I had 27 years of businesses and not a single audit on a anything personal or business. Yes I went up to the line, but never over. I was not about to commit a felony. If you want the name of my accountant and estate attorney just let me know and I will hook you up. Next time we chat on the phone remind me of the Grand Wireless deal, That is a real convoluted one.

I deliver for Fed Ex Ground, I don't know about ups or usps bit it's impossible for us to deliver a package and not scan it as delivered or attempted or a different codes. Because we can't close out for the day until all packages are reconciled. So say I get to a house deliver the box and leave without scanning the package at all, (which does happen). At the end of the day when I think I'm done my manifest will still have that package in the system. So I have to go all the way back to that stop, scan the package and then I can close out. So it makes your day longer if you happen to not scan a package, so if that happens it's not on purpose because nobody wants to work harder but accidents do happen. Us delivery guys are human too.

There are issues with FF, let’s say you send a FF payment to someone and you sent it to that persons name @gmail, not a very common name even, but let’s say you goofed and it wasn’t suppose to go to a gmail account, it was suppose to go to that name but @ another domain. You don’t realize this until you get a message on PP saying “why did you send me money?” This is when you realize your mistake and you message back saying you made a mistake in the domain name and thank them for being honest and asking them to refund the money…. And then you wait.

to be fair it’s only been a couple hours and when i say it’s not a common name it’s not common at all, but clearly common enough, so hey you have the guys email and you google it and find him, then you look on LinkedIn and find him, regional vp of sales for some software company in Chicago.

of course this is all hypothetical, hopefully he will take care of it or PP will handle this and refund the money, but at what point would you message him and say “i didn’t think the VP of regional sales for *company name* would screw a random person out if $300 on PP”. I’m a big believer in play stupid games and win stupid prizes and in the hypothetical situation i would hope this person doesn’t want to play stupid games with me over 300 bucks.

My first question would be can you go to jail for not claiming all your transactions? If jail is not possible then I would play Mickey the Dunce if I was ever audited. Just act like a moron and then they will either contact you to do it right or theh would feel sorry for you for being an idiot.

For 20 years my pool hall made the same amount of money within a couple of grand. I would lay red herrings in the return. Me and my accountant would make my return look like it was done by a retard. I can picture IRS agents laughing their asses off at the deductions I never took. I always stayed away from the red flags like home offices even though I could have deducted my home office for 15 years. They looked at my returns, figured I was an idiot and left me alone for 27 years. They saw what I wanted them to see in one hand but were blind to the things I was doing with the other hand. The other hand created so much more income than the obvious dumb shit I showed the IRS.

Or, you can do like our local FedEx, scan it as delivered or attempted delivery without doing either for 2-3 days until you feel like actually coming to my house

That's obviously not a knock on you or your profession, but we have 2 different vendors that switched our deliveries to UPS due to the constant frustration that I was going through and that they themselves had to go through with the FedEx office in my town. I hear the same stories about UPS in other places in the US too.

Oh ya, you gotta believe laziness is in all professions. I wouldn't hold that against the company as a whole due to the fact that most of us are contracted service providers, so the better we do the better our business does and more money and so on. The guy delivering your stuff probably doesn't have retirement or benefits and gets paid hourly which is enough to make anybody go crazy. But sometimes you get sick of the same people getting stuff everyday like dog food and salt and pepper and just the most dumbest thing you can think of someones ordered it. After you go to the same house everyday for a year, you realize why our country is so lazy.
