I've talked to my dad once in about 10 years and my mom maybe 4 years ago. I got nothin.

Hmm, never had too many issues with my parent, but I'm almost 40. My dad smoked cigarettes for a short time, but stopped when I was about six years old. My mom was actually quite excited to find out I smoked a pipe when she first found out. She said she like the way they smelled. I remember her commenting on the same thing years ago and telling my dad at that time that he should start smoking one.

Lots of interesting advice from lots of perspectives. I had a great relationship with my Dad, until he died. He was my best man. Still call Mom often, but 1,200 miles is a long way to visit. Being older, they have more perspective. Perhaps they have tried to quit many times, but found nicotine too strong. They don't want you hooked. As an adult now, you can discuss things differently. Be sure to listen to their advice. Even if they are idiots, it pays to have respect.

They will get used to you smoking a pipe as it becomes a part of your personality. My mother was thrilled when I started.

So we kinda talked and they said that they were mostly shocked that I would do something like that since I have always been the kid who never stepped out of line. My sister got on me the most saying that she was super disappointed and that I wouldn't like it if she did something like that. Then she kept telling me I better enjoy cancer. It kinda became a joke by the end of the day, but I don't know if I will keep up with it since now I feel kinda guilty if I continue with it. I do enjoy it but I might just smoke it once in a while until I move out to my own place. Thanks everyone for the advice! Part of me wishes they didn't find out but the other part is glad they did.

im 19, my parents are closet cig smokers, but i know, so they ended up not being able to say anything. i just told them i really lik it and its better than cigs

I'm 20 next month and my parents have forbidden me from smoking a pipe. I'd say if your parents are smokers then you'll probably get away with it, even if they take a bit of convincing. My Dad is an ex-cigarette smoker so there's no hope for me until I move out of home in a few years time. Hope it goes well for you mate!

My parents are getting older and I may have to put them down soon. They keep saying they are fine and enjoying their retirement but still, I have the vets personal cell phone for when the time comes.
