Headed to Panama City, Fl for vacation here in a few weeks.

Are there any pipe shops I should check out?

Any eating places I should check out?

J Michaels is a good local spot with solid food at a reasonable price.

Also go east and explore the Rosemary Beach area. Quiet beaches and family oriented. Nice spot if you want to get away from the crazyness of PCB.

I am not sure what your route is, but if you are coming down 65, check out The Briary just below Birmingham. I got PCB a pot, and I know of no pipe shops down there.

Oh boy, I'm keeping my wife away from that picture of J Michaels. She's a food writer who long specialized in authentic rather than fancy. One look at the J Michaels photo and we could be driving all night. No kidding, it looks like really good eating. Here locally, we're planning to check out Kim's Korean Restaurant which is sidled in with the Korean grocery. I'm thinking dumplings, kim chi, and rice. We have a great Laotian restaurant in town ... not too many of them around. Back near her home place, we like Keith's Steak House in Memphis, Mo., with thousands of coffee mugs hanging in the rafters.

If you plan on purchasing tobacco in the PC area, be prepared to pay alot. 85% taxes make a 50grm. tin about $45-50. Better off getting it online.

I will try out JMichaels for sure. The 85% sales tax is outrageous! Unfortunately I won't be headed near Birmingham. We only have to clip the southwestern part of Alabama coming in. I was hoping for better news concerning a pipe shop. I couldn't care less about going to the beach but I got outvoted by the wife and kids. I guess I can go sweat my tail off on the beach and wait on supper time.

Cigar Factory social club in Miramar Beach. Not s place to purchase pipe related product but great place to smoke, have a beverage and hang out.

There're some places in Pensacola, but that's about an hour & a half west of PCB, so that probably doesn't help. I can get you the info if you like, though?

Cigar factory sounds like what I'm looking for. A place with some AC to puff and hang out. Thanks hoosier! I'm going to look that up

Miramar Beach is a looong way from PC and the other side of Florida.

I lived in the Panhandle for about 15 yrs; HPG's right. It's only about 50 miles, a bit over an hour unless US 98 is incredibly crowded.

(BTW, I said P'cola was about an hour & a half from PC, & it is, unless 98 is royally bad, which it can be at this time of year. Speed limit between Ft. Walton Beach & P'cola is mostly 45, with only roughly a 10-mile stretch of 55. The cops in Gulf Breeze are tough on speeders too. You can ask my kid. -evyl grin-)

No prob, pepe'. Like a lotta places in the sunshine state, the names are similar enough to get hosed up on if your head's on local geography. If somebody said Escambia county, my first thought'd be Pensacola, not southern AL. }

I think the beach is boring but my wife and kids don't care what I think LOL!!

The fact that there is no pipe shop just adds to my not caring about going there.
