This may solve nothing, but I think it helps to bring your spouse into the activity at least a little. If your wife or husband is
prone to gift giving, and you help them by suggesting what you'd like for Christmas, your birthday, Fathers (or Mothers) Day,
and anniversary, they have that investment in the hobby. If you can let them take the lead and choose among several options,
so they are actually making some decisions, that's even better. Likewise with tobacco. Last time I was visiting my favorite
pipe carver at a pipe show, there was a woman there buying pipes for her husband. I swear, she picked out and bought about
five of them, and seemed to know what she was after. It solved her gift-giving problem, gave her some stake in his hobby,
and did wonders for my friend the pipe carver. My wife has given me several of my favorite pipes, and has happened on some
great tobacco.
