I've had that happen here in Mpls. Learned my lesson and have since had the packages delivered to my work.

I hate hearing that. Until you get a camera installed, put a sign up next to your door that says WARNING! THIS PROPERTY UNDER VIDEO SURVEILLANCE. Sometimes that alone is enough to deter them .. if they can read

That's great they've sent your order again... Just curious, but when will it arrive and what's your address?

...should be there tomorrow, or Thursday. 1060 W. Addison, Chicago, Illinois... ;-)

I think so too...

Honestly though, this is the first time in 23 yrs we've had this happen. I wish work delivery was an option, but sadly it's not... I plan on using UPS "hold for pickup" from now on...

That, and a pair of muddy, size 13, work boots, a couple of spent 12 ga. shotgun shells, and a very large dog bowl with SPIKE printed on the side... lol

Replacement package #1 is enroute, via UPS,...and...will be held for pickup at the UPS depot here in town! :)

I am a big fan of the cameras. I have a few all over, including in my infamous Barn, and they record and store the video wirelessly on a hidden hard drive.

We are actually doing that very thing... 2 on the porch alone...

Hey punk, get ready for your close-up. Cameras sound great, expensive, but great. I have a post box on the curb without a lock (although I guess that's an option) and of course UPS and Fed Ex are stuck with the porch. Unless it's an inside job, it's just grab-bagging, mostly kids getting whatever they can. For most kids, pipe tobacco today is about that last thing on their list, along with boot jacks and lead bullet molds. Although for many kleptomaniacs, anything stolen is a present from heaven. I'd guess most kid thiefs want ipods and other electronics, bling of any kind, and drugs of any kind -- here, kid, steal this laxative powder.
Congrats to P&C for their good prompt service. Also love the story about getting freebies on a bad delivery, especially something you could really use!

With UPS, if the package doesn't need to be signed for, you can redirect a package while in transit to a nearby UPS store via website for MyUPS.

Don't know what to do about USPS. For me, everything goes to the rental office for my apartment, so I never have to worry about missed delivery for signature, or theft.

Indeed, Maxx... I have done that very thing...directed P&C to ship the replacement packages UPS, and logged into the UPS website to have them hold for pickup. Greatly reduces the chance of theft that way... ;-)

Great Customer Service from PipesandCigars! Now you may have to sit outside with a shotgun. OLDWEST STYLE

Not sure when the shift happened, but my neighborhood has those "clustered" mail box slots with locks. Smaller packages will fit, but there are 2 bins at the bottom of each cluster that originally were intended for larger items, which would be placed in the lockers and a key placed in the mailbox of the recipient. Opening the bin would "trap" the key for the next package. At some point, I guess none of the keys got returned, or else the post office just got tired of using them, as I started getting "your package can be picked up" slips instead. And in the last couple of months, boxes have just started showing up on my porch...
Fortunately, the shrubs keep anything smaller than a dorm fridge from being seen from the street. But I'll definitely be considering other options for future deliveries.
