Hello,
I hope everyone is not tired of talking about this one. I received some today and chopped up the intact blocks. I cut them into quarters and 3 fit into a pint jar (laying horizontal). The kind folks who packaged my piece left me a 2 bowl end chunk, so... Chopped into large chunks, rubbed roughly, gravity fed into Boswell. It is too wet, chunks are too big, draw is too open, everything is wrong... and it is still amazing. This one is special.

Wanted to pick this up but with the esoterica drop last week I must show restraint!

My wait continues.

It is dark and oily as it is freshly sliced.

The flavor does light up from the beginning like the middle of a bowl of Escudo, or DDNR.

Dry ... it ... out!

Rub ... it ... out!

Sip it like Cognac.

I am wailing on these chunks of delight. I mean every session is a Bic-fest. I can almost picture these chunks melting into each other instead of burning. No tounge bite, at all.

Is this a good example of Mac Baren's quality? If so, I have been very incorrect in my thinking.

Sounds like you need to dry it more. Yes, Mac Baren makes some fantastic blends, as I love their use of dark fired burleys.

Yes, next round will be handled with more care and civility. I am very surprised at CB's gentle nature, even when abused. The flavors were pouring out of the pipe, I can not wait to get back to this blend!

I’ve posted this picture before, but it is worth reposting for learning purposes. Curly Block needs a bit of prep work. I make a working jar by making thin coins and also fine cube cuts. About 50/50 each and enough for 2-3 months at a time. I let it dry overnight, both the coins and cubes. Then put in the working jar. That way I have ready to smoke tobacco at any time without having to dry each and every time I want a bowl. A sharp knife is needed to get good thin coins. I personally prefer cube cut or rubbed out.

Curly Block is way overrated. Avoid it.

Wow, Peck came out of hiding to comment. That confirms that this is horrible stuff indeed.
Or as Jesse says, "no higher praise"

Horrendous leaf. npod just showed us his wizard level photoshop skills, making the bad look good. Don't be fooled, avoid this awful Mac Baren product!
