I thought it was hilarious that sugary soft drinks are a culprit in the obesity epidemic since it contains no nutritional value, but you can get a large milkshake which is probably WORSE for you than the pop, but since it's made with milk it has SOME redeeming value.

*EDIT*- I'd like to once again reiterate that political posts are forbidden by forum rules. This thread has the capability of going down that path, and if it does, I'll close it down. You've been warned. (I feel like a broken record this week...LOL!)

I heard on the radio that this will just ban the huge drinks in fast food places, and restaurants and such, it'll still be avialable at grocery stores and the like.
It's still insane though.
The next target... fake boobs. Then we bum rush his condo.

You can't walk into a corner store and get a milk shake, though. Pop's an easy target since the size of bottles has increased so much in the past few years, it's available everywhere, and has absolutely no nutritional values at all.

Except it's not about corner stores or grocery stores, it's targeted at food service establishments.

Right, but I guess if they make food in the corner shop, like a bodega or deli, than the law DOES apply. Silly. Very Silly.

It is just a case for the (insert here) Nazi's to take away our right to smoke, drink and be merry. I am overweight and not because of soda, I drink Maybe 4 a year. I love meat, any way it is prepared and the fat content of THAT food is way more damaging than any soda. It is like banning all tobacco because the ciggie's are killing people, right. No one really looks at the entire picture and THINKS about the problem. I guess soon I will have to start hoarding meat along with my baccy, sugar cane Coke and beta-max tapes.
I saw a dish yesterday I really want. Chicken fried Bacon, MAN that looked good! :worship:

Perhaps I should have simply said "anti-freedom." (+1) radio807.
Unfortunately, I think this is becoming the trend for all our public masters... excuse me... servants.
I'm beginning to wonder whether or not the Nazis actually won WWII?
I'm also wondering what the hell our military heroes are risking their lives and dieing for? It certainly doesn't seem to be protecting our freedoms anymore.

Oh. That's interesting. With all the carrying on in here, I thought it was about bottles.

Come to Texas, where you can get refills of your 52oz bladder buster for only $0.99! Also, Dunkin Donuts just declared today National Donut Day and is offering free soda with donut purchase! Another place is offering free soft drinks with the purchase of their foot-in-diameter doughnut! Suck it, Bloomberg.

I consume my share of Kentucky Bourbon and tobacco, but only a once a month soda. The problem is that the government is once again making decisions with the consent of the people. What is freedom when you have no choice?

One would think that the Liberals would be "anti" taking away personal Freedoms. But, that is the Party taking all the action against our personal Freedom. It angers me tremendously. I am a conservative as a result. And, I am angry at both the major Political Parties to be sure! No intent to light a fire here about Politics at all. But, don't you agree that we must be careful to examine political platforms? After all, I certainly have no interest in voting people in office that desire to eliminate my personal freedom to smoke my pipe. I think my position is a reasonable one.

It's quite scarry to live in a country that is supposed to stand for freedom and equality for all, when everything is mandated for us.
Delaware just had to replace all the street signs in DE, even though the state is nearing bankrupcy because the federal government decided to require all street signs to have lower case letters in them and all DE's signs were UPPERCASE!!! That cost the a lot of money, but if they did not comply, they would loose all their federal funding.
