Velvet has received some love on Forums lately, apparently a plain and basic burley, if that's what has appeal. Do you like burley in general or only selectively? Do you like it at all? Some can't taste it; some get nauseated by it; some like it selectively; and some like most burley leaf whether blends or neat. What fell flat for you? No taste? Harsh? I'm a burley smoker, so I'm forgiving of most burley blends, but I understand many aren't.

Smooth, yes. But it has no other attributes. It's so extremely mild, I can't taste anything. That just might be me. But from OTC I have tried so far, this is on polar opposite of Half & Half. HH has too many things going on and Velvet has too little going on.

Yeah, there is not much going on in the Velvet flavor department.

Velvet is mild on the flavor and not as tasty as PA, Granger, Half & Half, Paladin, or pretty much and other OTC blend. But there is nothing wrong with it and I like to keep a few pouches around. Regular Sir Walter is another one that is rather bland when it comes to OTC's but it's all about preference.

I focus on burley, but I notice one of the appeals of Virginia blends is exciting but understated flavor. To me, burley is big, open hearted, a little bit braggart. Virginia is more introverted, soft-spoken, but more reflective and ruminative. That's what I like about it, distinct from all my various burley favorites.
