informative article. so all virginia tobaccos must be flue stove cured? that's interesting. i wonder why that is. is it because the sugar content would cause a higher incident of undesireable things like mold if cured otherwise, or is it the heat applied that causes a higher incidence of sugars?

On the pouch it describes HnH as a blend of "burley and bright tobaccos".
Back in the early 80's college days when I used to smoke pipes with a buddy of mine, who was really hilarious, I remember him reading the ingredients off some OTC package, which listed burley and bight tobaccos (Borkum Riff ?).

He did a thing where the tobaccos were talking to one another. He said in a low masculine tone "I'm burley", and then in a high pitched voice, "and I'm bright!". Really cracked me up at the time. Of course we were 18 then.

I used to smoke H&H every now and then. I too, noticed what I thought was a lack of consistency; sometimes it was good and other times, not so much. But when it was good I enjoyed it, especialy while on a trout stream in the early spring.

H&H reminds me of a codger that lived next door when I was a kid. "Papa Jim" always had a bowl of H&H going! I was given a 14oz tin and am thoroughly enjoying it. On an aside, I picked up a pouch of CH at the local grocery(as many reviewers seemed to like it more than H&H). Maybe it was old, but it was VERY dry. It lit well and stayed lit, but burned the back of my throat. So on my 2nd smoke of the day, I went back to H&H for comparison. 3rd smoke I went back to CH, giving the pouch a good mixing (the bottom seemed less dry) and it again smoked well, no burn or bite this time. However, my family commented that the H&H smells like a pipe "should" but the CH smelled like a cigarette left burning in an ashtray. Any thoughts?

H&H was my go to blend for years when I could smoke at work. I also used to blend it 50/50 with captain black gold for an all day smoke. And the comments about the pleasant aroma from co-workers made me smile.
