OTC - Rum & Maple

Okay so I am still a newbie having smoked a pipe everyday for the last week or so, originally the tobacconist advised me on mild to medium speciality or house blends, all of which was okay, however non-smoking family members suggested that I try ''Rum & Maple no 53'' a brand which both my grandfather and uncle used to take, so after buying a cheap and inexpensive 50g pouch, I am absolutely blown away this blend is fantastic just mild enough for a novice like myself, I really enjoyed finishing the bowl today, perhaps it is that I am still an inexperienced pipist but hey man this blend did it for me today.

Hi Papipeguy, you can find it almost everywhere in South Africa, similar to Boxer and Fox it is a well known brand down here.

Just finished the last of a tub I bought in 2008. Sure wish it was offered in the USA again. After 8 yrs in a mason jar it is not as bitey as it was fresh, but it did retain it's flavor, which surprised me.

Incredible. I smoked the original 40 years ago but did not know it was licensed for production overseas. Very interesting information.

I picked up an old pouch on ebay. Not dusty but reasonably dry. Fired it up today it was pretty good.
