I carry a Ruger GP 100 .357 most of the time, but it's only for the protection of my family and myself. I don't plan on being anyone's hero like the poor guy at Walmart a few weeks back who tried to hold a cop killer at gunpoint. He didn't see the perp's girlfriend pull a pistol out of her purse and shoot him dead. If I take the gun out of my holster, somebody's going to get shot. Otherwise it stays concealed.

What a story... glad that no one was injured. My heart goes out to that poor teller girl.
Today I went to pick my mother up from her place of employment (donut shop.) 30 minutes prior to my arrival, the cash/loan store right next door was robbed by two guys with black masks and guns. Nobody injured - mom was a bit shocked. Eight squad cars, a news van, and an ambulance for the loan clerk who nearly had a heart attack over it.
I was in Army special operations (airborne) for a couple years, and in general I feel fairly safe due to being trained in SOCP, LINE and such. But, sometimes I look around and wonder if having a weapon isn't a bad idea.

I've only had one instance where I drew my weapon on someone and it was at my home. A drunk and beligerant person just pushed their way into my house and got the surprise of their life. Having to deal with weopons in a public setting where bystanders are present changes the dynamics of the self defense situation. Even if I would have been armed it's hard to say what I'd've done. As it is no one was injured and only some money is missing. Everyone got to go home. That means more than anything.

I am glad that no one got hurt and I am sure the bastard will get caught. Robbing banks nowadays seems like a really stupid idea. It's not like these criminals are getting away with tens of thousands of dollars or more. Most likely, a couple hundred bucks... and for what? An armed robbery felony conviction.

Been there twice, food store when they came in with shot guns, bar with pistol. Banks are easy in NC cause they know that CCW is forbidden in banks, like school zones. Drove by a credit union this morning in town & cop cars all over so, guess they got robbed today also.

How many people would think it over a lot more before robbing if this were commonplace:
