I just ordered my first "big boy" pipe, a Peterson Harp 408. This will be the first pipe that I have specifically chosen from myself. My other pipes have been cheap yard sale finds. Also to commemorate this I went ahead and bought a small sampling of tobacco from Boswell's. This was also a first for me. Can't wait till they all get here.
So what was the first pipe you purposely selected for yourself? The pipe that got you all excited for the first time?

Very nice, congrats... I think I might differ than most... I got excited about pipe smoking not because of any particular pipe but because I truly enjoyed it from the first puff.
But my very first pipe that I chose was my very first pipe period... A no name $15 basket pipe, GOD DAMN! it smokes good, I know I probably got very lucky... but to this day (22 years later) it's still one of my favorite smokers :)

Very cool, bro. Congratz and welcome.

First smoke was a MM cob, first briar purchase was a Savinelli Oscar estate off of ebay, first new pipes was a Peterson Shannnon and a Savinelli Hercules 510ex. All smoke great....

I hope you enjoy the Pete and the tobacco.

Welcome to the forums! Congrats on your first new pipe purchase.

Think about it. It probably should have been a cherry wood poker and a cherry flavored aromatic.
My very first pipe...

No, seriously, it was a Medico squat bulldog. I loved that pipe, but it burned-out because I smoked it carelessly

while outdoors on a cold and windy day.

Welcome to the forum, dpkrause.
My first pipe was my Design Berlin bent apple.

It's still my favorite. I guess you never forget your first.
I sure would like to see a picture of yours when you get it.

Welcome and congratulations.
My first was a rusticated Dr Grabow that I hated and gave away within a month; the new owner loves it. The first and only new pipe was a MM Washington that I love and the first estate pipe a Sasinei bulldog I restored (first for that too) and love, love; it was a $4 flea market find.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your first new pipe. My first pipe was a Savinelli Linea Piu 5. I was sitting in my local cigar lounge smoking my cigars and after listening to a cigar buddy tell me how great pipes were for over a week, I went out front to the store and bought that pipe. I still smoke it on a regular basis and it is a really good smoker. It got me hooked on pipes and began my journey into collecting pipes and smoking some great blends.

DPKrause Congrads on a great new hobby and welcome to the forum they are a great bunch of guys and a fantastic resource to people just starting out. I can honestly say my short time here has made me realize what a bunch of gentlemen hang there hat here. If I can be of any assistance along the way please feel free to ask.

My first new briar was a Peterson Ebony System 303. My wife bought it for me for Christmas. Total surprise. It's now my dedicated Black House pipe.

First pipe that really got me excited about owning it was a DG Grand Duke. Me and that pipe learned together. A filter styled and that crazy rustification on the newer Grabows.
I haven't smoked her in quite some time, but I keep her around out of respect.

My first new pipe was a Peterson System Rustic 303. I had bought only estate pipes before it. Now I only buy new pipes; I'm burned out on cleaning estate pipes. Though don't get me wrong, some of my old estate pipes are still some of my favorite pipes.
Years ago while in college, I bought a DG Grand Duke, but I didn't use it much. The 303 was the exciting one to get. It was my first new pipe as an "official pipe smoker".

My first was an unsmokable basket that luckily cracked within a couple smokes. The $10 pipe I found at an estate sale still gets occasional use. Gradually I figured out what kinds of pipes I like.
