I don't know how much he ordered in the video you show above. That could be 3 50g tins. In any event, the video was in 2010. BC tobacco taxes have about doubled since then and the Federal tobacco tax has also increased significantly (in the last two budgets alone it has gone up by around 30%).

if you guys are buying from an american retailer and it's gets as far as your customs then imo the problem is yours.. pay up don't screw the retailer. the retailers that refuse to ship north have probably been burned once too many times and it's not worth the hassle.
I agree that the problem is ours provided the seller has declared the right quantity on the customs declaration. If the seller can't figure out how many grams are in an ounce like the rest of the seven billion people in the world who use the metric system that this is their problem not mine.

Politicians are the worst form of rapists
I'm of the opinion that all rapists are bad.
unfortunately, most people in our societies seem to prefer putting them in office.
Since you effectively become a politician on being elected to office... Um, yep.
My local tobacconist told me that the Canadian snowbirds tend to clean out the shelves before they fly home after the winter in Arizona.
Not surprising, pipe tobacco is still cheaper in the USA than at retail in Canada. Even when duty and taxes are added to the purchase price.
A lie isn't a lie if you are talking to someone that isn't deserving of the truth.
Nope, it's still a lie. This is just a rationale to help someone feel ok about lying.
Onerous taxation at this level is immoral.
As someone who lives with this level of taxation I can honestly say I have never felt like it was immoral. In fact, if immoral really means going against accepted standards of morality, then I think we smokers are hooped.
But making an online purchase, knowing the risks...and sticking it to the shipper by refusing receipt, is even worse.
I agree entirely.

Thanks for the calculation Peckin as unbelievable as it is! That's approx $40 MORE than the local retail price.
From the tobacco act, it still appears that the shipment would be destroyed and NOT sent back to the shipper after 60 days - see 7b
"(7) Tobacco detained under subsection (6) must be dealt with as follows:

(a) if, before the end of 60 days after the start of the detention, the tax payable on the tobacco at the time of its detention and any expenses related to the detention are paid and the requirements of subsection (3) (b) or (4) (b) are met, the tobacco must be returned to the purchaser;

(b) if the tax and expenses are not paid within the time limit referred to in paragraph (a) or the requirements of subsection (3) (b) or (4) (b) are not met, the tobacco is forfeited to the government and may be disposed of as directed by the director."
