My lovely little Ropp Etudiant was sat upon by a thoughtless oaf (me) and the tenon snapped.

Sending this for repair is out of the question due to my location and the fact a repair would cost more than the pipe.

Is there an adhesive that would be strong enough to bind this back together? I'd have to never remove the stem again but I'm fine with that.

Deep down I know the answer will be: "just buy another pipe"

Okay, the best fix is drilling the stem for a new delrin tenon that has been lathe fitted for the mortise.
But you don’t have the equipment and don’t want t spend money on it.
Try this: pop the tenon piece out with a dent puller. Super glue the tenon back together. This only works if you have a fairly light friction fit because the glued repair can’t take a lot of pressure. You may have to use 800g sand paper to get it right. Good luck!

If you like the pipe, it may well be worth repairing professionally—even if the cost is that of the pipe. In my experience, the less expensive pipes are gambles, so if I wind up with a good one I get someone who knows what they’re doing to do the repairs if it breaks. I just spent $45 , including shipping, to fix an estate that if I remember well cost $50–but it’s a great pipe and I’m happy to have it back in the rotation. So if you can find someone in your area, it’s worth considering

In the eu a great pipemaker Peter Klein also will make a new stem for 40 euros
Its probably better than the original

He is in Denmark

The other option to replacement is to try to glue it

There are plenty of other repair shops. Some may be less expensive. I used Peter because I had a damaged pipe he had made.

Probably. There are guys in Germany that do it too.

If he cant glue it the best bet is to try to find someone in his country to save on shipping.

even in the EU shipping back and forth will cost as much as a new stem

Thanks, I think I will attempt this. Worst case, it ends up sitting on my shelf and looking nice
