Just out of curiosity, what are your opinions on your pipes tenon? I notice that some pipe makers drill and epoxy a tenon in verses shaping one out of the whole stem block.

I like the acrylic or Vulcanite on wood approach, the simpler the better, the less to go wrong. But I've accommodated other arrangements including the screw-in stems and found them serviceable. Go with what you've got.

I prefer all one piece. The moment I got a lathe, I abandoned delrin inserts. 1 less joint to worry about, no glue/adhesive to worry about.

Takes me more time and money, but not having that glue joint outweighs everything.

I think it's safe to say that your better brands of pipes come the the tenon as part of the stem. The only pipes I have... that I can think of... that are not like that are some meerschaums.

Tip: Tenon a little too tight? Rub it on a candle a couple times. puffy
