That's how it was presented. I bet the weight was short and they added a few little pieces to bring it up.
Yep, no matter how good they are, that big piece is always a guess and they either need to cut more off or add a bit to make it come out as close as possible. I imagine when they’re doing a run of tins, they have bowls for those scraps.
Such a great blend. One of my favorites.
Heck yeah! Probably going to have another bowl of it today! And prep the rest of it and jar it. I signed up for alerts when it's back in stock already lol
With 33 jarred blends, I'm normally quite averse to cracking any new tins. But today is special...
I can't even do it justice with words to explain the tin note--if you've ever smelled this particular one, you'll know what I mean. It's positively unreal. Will be enjoying a bowl this afternoon in my workspace.

3 or 4 smokes left in the open tin of Sir John's Flake Virginia, opened one to breathe for a few days.
Heck yeah! I'm digging it so far. I kinda wanted to keep aging it but I don't know if it will last

Opened a couple tins from my Secret Santa today!
Looks like the same two tins I used to try and bribe Santa to transfer my name to the "nice" list from the...uhh...the other one (not the restraining order list, blessedly!).
Astleys No. 44 from 2006 or 2008, can't quite make the last digit written at the bottom of the tin.
Ashton's Smooth Sailing --- purchased June 26 ('07), so it's got some age.
Not sure how much aging affects or benefits aromatics, have read some controversy.
It smelled great, looked very pretty, more colorful than the pic shows.
It was still somewhat sticky, so I've been airing it with the cover "loose" for several days. It helped to dry it. Have smoked the first bowl, pleasant, smells good although the bottom of the bowl seemed a bit less mild. My idea in opening the tin is that it'll be one of my offerings at the upcoming January Pipe Club Meeting.

Just opened this 2022 Seattle Pipe Club Hogshead Virginia plug to break in my new Radice Rind. Rich, dark, crumble cake. Can pull off a corner well enough, slices with ease. Perfect moisture.
Time to crack this 2019 Dockworker!
Some decent rim corrosion.
Tin note is strong, fermented prunes.
They don't come through on this photo, but sunlight reveals a nice coating of microcrystals.

Since it’s NYE I decided to crack open my tin of Esoterica And so to Bed I picked up early last year. The tin note is interesting, like olives, that I’m kind of liking. 
Some History: Drew Estate was founded in the 90s by Johnathan Drew. He used to work for Lars Teten in the cigar business. After a falling out with Lars, he started his own cigar business called "Acid" cigars. As far as I know Drew doesn't know anything about pipes and tobacco. He must have someone making it for him. Whatever the case, if it's a good blend, go for it.....
