From the cellar with a few years of age is a new to me blend: Rattrays Old Gowrie.

I am pleasantly surprised this is a broken flake! Moisture level is spot-on. Mostly shades of brown with some creamy flecks. Smell is of sweet hay, dried plum, and apple cider vinegar. Smell reminds me a little bit of Newminster Navy Flake, but the apple cider vinegar adds something different. Smoking half a bowl of it reminds me a lot of Newminster Navy Flake, a little less sweet, but more complex. I think this is going to a winner for me. Straightforward enough to smoke and do yard work during the day, and complex enough for an evening relaxing and picking out the flavors. IMG_6167.jpegIMG_6168.jpegIMG_6170.jpegIMG_6171.jpeg

Nice and complex. I haven't had it from the tin. Perfect moisture. Earthy and strong but not overly. It's got a lot going on. I had this one small tin that I've been itching to pop since I picked it up at the Muletown Pipe show in March. I secured two 3.50z tins via the forums, 1000 thanks friends, so I could guiltlessly try this one. I think a week or two in the jar will really bloom it up nice.

I was a big fan of this blend. I should have bought a truck load when i had the chance. Enjoy. I have half a tin left.

GLP Gas Light. Stinks like musty locker room and raw heated tupperwared mushrooms. My kind of smoke. Interesting hole I found on the plug. Was filled with pulverized tobacco dust that fell out without digging. Wonder what caused it. Edge of the plug maybe? Not concerned just curious.
My guess would be brittle piece of Latakia that broke into a thousand pieces under press pressure but sort of stayed together

If you rub out Gaslight you may see this happening, the creation of very small pieces

*I don't know that it's the Lat, could certainly be another component

You got the one with the tobacco worm?
Is that good luck like getting the worm in the tequila?
