Someone mentioned having a ring for the Brotherhood of the Briar, similar to the ones worn by Masons etc. I thought cool, but that's gotta be expensive...but maybe not.
This Dude does custom laser engraving on Tungsten for under $100 in most cases. It would be cool to have a ring with the PM pipe logo, or something similar on the outside with "Brotherhood of the Briar" engraved on the inside.
We could even use the Tengwar (elvish) script since I know I'm not the only Tolkien geek on here.
I think it's a cool Idea.

I'd buy one. Plus I love tungsten. My wedding ring is tungsten. I got it in 05 and even with the hell I put it through, it is still comfy and has a mirror shine.
We just have to make sure Kevin doensn't make "One Ring To Rule Them All..." :P

I don't want to sound like a dick, since that is a cool idea, however, it does not fit into our business plan, and we are not interested in managing any licensing of the brand at this time either.
Very cool in theory.
Not going to happen in real life.
Sorry.

Thats cool. I didn't intend to promote any one particular ringmaker, just give a visual to illustrate the thought. Guess we'll leave it to the pipe clubs.

My wedding ring is tungsten carbide. It is tough as hell. I work around concrete and steel all day, and it gets used, often, as a way to make noise to attract attention. Like noted, it still looks brand new.

Yep. It's so much cheaper now than when I got mine. My wedding band was about $600 at a jeweler because it was the "New Thing". Now you can get the same ring for $50 some places!

I don't think it necessarily has to do with just the forums, but Brother's of the Briar in general. I don't think that should make any licensing issues, not if we just decide on a cool design and/or phrase, and happen to all get that on a ring by coincidence 8)

Yeah, I may do something design-wise on my end at some point, but I'm gonna keep it on the private side and make sure I don't step on any toes or infringe on anyones' registered tratemarks. I want it always to be about good will and the brotherhood and never disrespect anyone, especially on this forum, which has done much to help me and many others.

oh I definitely feel you brother. I think that it should symbolize the community, but not the forum. Pipe smokers in general and all the good will that amounts from them :D

I totally understand and agree with Kevin's point... but smokinjoe and baronsomedi, you guys are onto something. What a freaking amazing way to express camaraderie and uphold the art as it were of pipe smoking. Especially if we could get it with other stuff besides just a ring. It's like surfing or trekkies, or whatever other thing that folks unite over. Pipe smoking needs some rings, shirts, and bumper stickers. As well as some nonresistant legal action in our words!
Plus I totally dig the Tengwar idea. I'm currently reading my way through Moria tonight as it is. Tolkien, and Twain... You don't get better than that.
So we should do something like this, but of course completely apart and seperate from PM and the forums. It would take off I think. :puffy:

Another way to find other pipesmokers is to follow the smoke and see them with a pipe in their mouths.
Although, what would the logo look like? I'd want something universal, not site-related.
