Sallow, there are not a whole lot of blends out there that pair up a cube cut burley with latakia, and with some virginia thrown in for good measure I love the way harvest moon smokes!

When I first started smoking I couldn't smoke enough blends. Now a few years later I stick to just a few for whatever reason.

morton', that's a smart thing to do on various points. You can run your eye down the list and know the ground you've covered. You may not remember details on each one, but you likely remember significant points on your favorites and least favorites. I think it would provide a more nuanced idea of what you enjoy. I feel I have sampled about that many, maybe a few more, but could I list them? Since you've taken the trouble, I think this will enhance your ongoing experience. Will this encourage me to follow your good example? Well, er, um.

I just checked tobaccoreviews.com and you are now only 1,527 blends behind JimInks!
Seriously, nothing like trying new blends. After all these years I still get excited every time I crack open a tin of something that I've never tried before. Kudos and keep it up!

A hundred blends is a significant milestone at any rate.
I wish I'd been smart enough (or had been more foresightful) and recorded everything I'd tried out or bought. I've probably forgotten more blends that I've smoked than I could remember and list off.

Skiff and Balkan Beauty are on my list to try, if a ever need a tin to throw onto an order.
Hey mortonbriar, do you think Balkan Beauty is very much like Blue Mountian or Cyprian Star, if you have tried either of them?
This reminds me, I want to find that "flavor wheel" thing online. It seemed like it could be pretty helpful if one likes taking some smoking notes.

Congratulations on reaching century mark.

It turns out I'm right there with you, and I keep a spreadsheet, too.

I haven't added notes to my spreadsheet; I just try to keep up with the number of ounces of each blend.
I think anyone who keeps a pipe tobacco spreadsheet has the disease pretty bad.

Balkisobrains, the thing with my personal milestone is that I have still barely made a dent in the pile of blends available, ha. I have not tried either of those sorry. I have found a number of the Mcclelland lat blends to have a certain similarity though.
Curl, there are worse diseases out there than obsessive hobby spreadsheeting ha

Oh young grasshopper! Once you hit a few hundred you will learn that it is no longer about quanity, but quality of blends smoked.
At least that is the conclusion I made a few years back after trying everything I could get my hands on for years!
But congrats on the milestone. Smoke what you like and like what you smoke!

Mortobriar chapeau!
A great idea for a thread.
Due to a chronic chest infection I have lit my pipe very rarely over the last six weeks. Today I'm in bed and feeling a little sorry for myself so I decided to follow your example and go back and look over what blends I smoked over the last two years or so. I didn't keep any notes or lists so I had to construct a "memory chalet".

I'm may have forgotten about a few, but I was happy to see I'd struck the 100 mark.

Of the blenders my top three are GH with 16 and SG with 10 and Peterston with 9.
By happy accident I realised that the 100th blend I tried was John Cottons Smyrna a SS gift from woodsroad. This is a fine smoke and exactly what I like in a lighter English, sweet ,salty and smokey.

It reminded me of Germains Special Latakia Flake, although perhaps not as briny.

I'm not sure if I'll get to 200 but I have just discovered Mccllelands so I shall endeavour to preserve.

I wish you well with your further discoveries.

You inspired me to tally my total = 114. Thanks for the inspiration and I bet you will beat me to 125 as I have settled into my rotation and only try new blends that are gifted or are must haves. Cue the horse.

Way to conquer so many blends dude. I would maybe be at 20 different blends. Part of my problem or not really is that i go back to what i like, easier then venturing out and trying something new lol
