I tend to appreciate VAs more when they have some burley presence and vice versa.
Interesting do you know of anyone on this forum who has traded with anyone in the Uk given the postage costs etc. Always seems a logical ideaNever throw away Solani (or any burley flake for that matter). Just trade it here.
Not off hand but if you watch the Tobacco Sell/Swap forum you’ll see UK sales threads. My guess is if you had stuff to trade or sell on you would find UK takers.Interesting do you know of anyone on this forum who has traded with anyone in the Uk given the postage costs etc. Always seems a logical idea
Nothing wrong with that and I totally agree with everything you say. Unfortunately its not a blend sold in the Uk. It has to be bought from Estervals or from the United states. Now Solani aged Burley is another matter its readily available in the UKYes. By all means, stop. You’re telling me that you’ve found a blend that you really like? That’s great! Now spend some real time with it, get to know it. Enjoy it and enjoy smoking it in all of your pipes.
These guys all mean well, but would have you jump back on the hamster wheel to find “another” blend —when you have one you enjoy smoking right in front of you!
At the very least, you’ll establish a baseline blend that you’ll know you’ll enjoy every single time that you reach for it. Tell me? What’s wrong with that?
I agree with what you say. Iam interested to know what Wessex Burley is like in terms of taste profile. It has been pointed out to me that some burleys are naturally bitter like ABF others may be not like HH.For my taste HH Burley, ABF, and Wessex Burley are the top of the tier for Burley blends. All others while good don't have the presence and roundness they possess. Few talk about the sour, ashy taste or rough edges that Burley can have but the Burleyphiles on here like Grangerous are the ones to hone in on. To me it sounds like you'd be more into VaBurs or VaBurPerOrs at the moment. Trust me when I say "simple" is an acquired taste.
Having a favorite blend is a blessing not a curse. It’s a shame to have found something you like and it’s difficult to make it a regular.Nothing wrong with that and I totally agree with everything you say. Interesting I have made orders from watch city before. Tried 558, old dominion which I like.I will try the watch city slices.HU Dockworker is a favourite of mine which is mainly Burley but is not bitter to my taste.Edgeworth match is not on SP I think I tried to find it before.Well, I can understand the instant attraction and feeling of satisfaction from HH Burley Flake. In terms of flavor, it is probably my favorite Burley. But I like the Solani a lot too, and the strength and natural goodness of C&D burleys. If you didn't enjoy ABF and Haunted Bookshop, I'd suggest Watch City Slices, which is similar in components to the HH, and maybe some of the codger/OTC burleys: Lane RR (or Sutliff's Edgeworth Match), Prince Albert, etc. I also like Hearth & Home Classic Burley Kake
Very true.Having a favorite blend is a blessing not a curse. It’s a shame to have found something you like and it’s difficult to make it a regular.
I look forward to my daily smoke and I want to know I’ll enjoy it. I have about 50 blends to choose from that I seldom reach for. I’ll take the sure thing every time.
Just post your trades to the Sell/Swap forum here and specify UK only. You'll find the right people pretty handily.Interesting do you know of anyone on this forum who has traded with anyone in the Uk given the postage costs etc. Always seems a logical idea
Thats where Iam right now.I tend to appreciate VAs more when they have some burley presence and vice versa.
Best Brown nos2, Revor plug (wonderful blend).A friend sent me a sample of Gawith Hoggarth Burley and Bright. I was pleasantly surprised. Not strong but not as mild as I expected. Some reviews mentioned it being cigarrettish but I didn’t find that at all. Anything else in the Gawith lines that scratch the burley itch? I know the darker stuff is it’s own beast.
Love all the browns. Haven’t tried Revor since it’s not available in the US. GLPease Barbary Coast is a unique one if you can get it.Best Brown nos2, Revor plug (wonderful blend).
