Jmui: yes, they do. I've owned one for a year now, and every blend I have smoked in it tastes sweeter than it did in briar pipes. Mine burns fairly cool, and it has decent sized walls, and I can clench it.

Very nice pipe there maxpeters. That's the 2nd one I've seen sandblasted and I must say they look good with the blast finish.

Blasted, it has a sort of cork appearance, not unlike a cork covered Spanu. Very attractive!

Nice, Maxpeters! That is the first blast I have seen in olive. I have only seen about a dozen or so olive pipes, but they have always been smooth. most of them had a pretty drab grain. Bernie2's beautiful pipe, is the first interesting grain I have seen, in olive. I really like your blast, and think that is what I will look for in an olive. I did see some knife scales in olive on the internet last week that had some very pretty grain in them. I guess for a real attractive grain in most trees ( birds eye etc. aside) it is going to have to be distressed like spalted maple, and still be fire resistant as briar.

In wood I suppose it isn't always grain. Would it be called grain, or pattern or is there a nother term for it?
