Does anybody else derive most of their pipe smoking pleasure from the smell of the burning tobacco? I've come to the realization that I enjoy the smoke through the sinuses more than the actual tasting with the tongue. I almost primarily take a pull and then immediately french inhale or retrohale, not that I don't like the taste on my tongue, but receive a more pleasing sense of the flavor through the good ol olfactories.

I'm with you. After all, we wouldn't be able to taste without our sense of smell. It's for this reason that tobacco isn't as enjoyable for me on a windy day. All that great, flavor-laden smoke gets blown away before I'm able to 'taste' it with my nose.

No I'm 100 percent taste. I haven't been able to smell most things for many years. It's a blessing and a curse.
