Oldest Pipe Maker In Ukraine

Video of oldest pipe maker in Ukraine, 78 year old Zenon Palchevsky.

Sorry no English language is spoken, but my wife is from Ukraine and could translate I suppose.

Found it most interesting some of his pipes have a pencil shank with a metal tube insert functioning as the tenon and a fan tail bit something like a "Scottie" pipe.

I got something interesting about old pipe makers... I was working in the Royal York hotel Toronto in 2015 and went downstairs and they had a pipe shop. I went in a couple times and the owner was pretty ancient then.

I just googled around and apparently he has an online store (and probably the same B-M in the hotel after we open after Covid) listed to 2021... On his site he mentions he made his first pipe in the late 50’s... talk about old.

i went in and was just talking and showing him some of my pipes, and he wasn’t very happy about it, he was a borderline demon to be honest, lol. but he’s still around I guess, must be in his late 80’s or 90’s now. Maybe I’ll go back and check soon...

Here's a quick translation for anyone who likes the video, but doesn't understand Ukrainian. It's a western dialect from Lviv where's he's from.

First, he likes to design with paper and pencil before starting work.
Second, the wooden hand tools belonged to his father which he got in Switzerland.
Third, the 6 pipes in the picture frame are made of cherry wood.
Fourth, showing his different pipes made over the years.
Fifth, one pipe he's holding was designed to capture black tulips grown in his wife's garden. Next pipe is a poker.
Sixth, smoking in a local bar, guys talking mostly about how well his pipes smoke, etc.
