Old Joe Krantz first impressions

I recently tried both OJK and Pegasus and found that I liked OJK a bit better.
This surprised me because I expected to prefer Pegasus due to the cavandish. Both are good and I look forward to trying them as they age.

Just tried OJK after being a haunted bookshop fiend. It seems to have more Virginia and perique than HB. I actually find this smoother than HB too. I seem to love Bob Runowski blends. Haunted bookshop, Morley’s best, Pegasus, and Bayou morning flake. I’ll have to finish this ounce and decide if I want a full tin or a pound. So far liking it a lot. Fuels my nicotine addiction.

always go for the pound. Or at least that is my opinion.

I’m going through a new pound bag of both OJK and HB and it’s not what I remember from 2019. I just finished the rest of what I had from 2019 and it was way more punchy. Maybe my tastes are off or age comes into play. Perhaps my tastes have changed but the 2019 blends were so much better. I’m hoping the new ones will improve with age. Anyone else notice a change in the blends over time? I didn’t really go for them at first but have grown to love them. I’m comparing my memory and aged versus new and I haven’t had any of the intervening years… if you find a blend you love make sure you stock up because things change.

Cracked open a tin of OJK last weekend, my first time with this renown tobacco, well all I can say is it should stay in the tin. I tried this blend in several Virginia pipes, and the result was the same. Granted, I have tried some blends with burley as an additive, so I'm familiar with the leaf. I must say , I was disappointed. I might try Haunted Bookshop for a follow-up.

What was it that you didn't like about OJK? I've heard HB spoken of as being fairly similar though perhaps not quite as bold in flavour.
