Heard about this odd website today and randomly clicked a year. Check out the glass pipe in the second picture...

Anyone ever see one of these?

I've always wanted a glass billiard, to practice packing with. Wonder if anyone's made something like that. Obviously searching for 'glass tobacco pipe' yields... Less than satisfactory results ?
What's the website? This looks interesting, and it must be if you made it through 44 pages! When i saw the title i thought you were asking about ways to recycle old online retailers catalogues, pleasant surprise!

Apparently someone had a lot of time, so they scanned a bunch of catalogues so you could see what people were browsing before the interwebs.

I thought the glass pipe was unusual for the time. Never even heard of such a thing. Was it somehow for snuff or smoking?

This topic made me take a look in an old German shoe catalogue of mine. Considering the smoking policy of the 3rd Reich, I did not expect to find any pipe smoking gentlemen pictured. But lo and behold:

There was all sorts of print ads about pipe smoking in Germany at this time. Soldiers smoked pipes and cigarettes and just like US soldiers of the time and were provided as such. It was just frowned upon by the government.
