pipe cleaner ..... goes all the way down the bowl with ease
As long as it's not a bent Pete or a System Pete. I have 9 Petes from different time periods, including a newly acquired African Meer from the 70's, and only the straight ones will pass a cleaner to the bowl due to the System well or the moisture trap on the non-System ones

I have 3 petes Iv owned 4, never had a problem with any of them, I have a $70 pete and a $180 pete they both smoke well and the $70 only has two fills, small ones as well. Also have 2 Sav (church warden and the da vinci) and I have two stanwells, they all smoke well no complaints. IMO get it fixed with Walter, Iv only heard good things about him.

Cheers

gunnar, do you really think the kid should spend the 20-30 bucks to get a brand new pipe fixed that should have been perfect when he bought it? If everyone did that then there is absolutely no incentive for Peterson to get their act together and produce pipes with no flaws. As consumers it is up to us to hold them accountable for shoddy workmanship and to never accept anything but the best. Just my two centavos on the subject.

As said earlier when you buy a new pete you have to go for a higher end one, i wouldnt trade my kapp royal for anything but its a $150-190 pete. Also your b&m should provide you with a plastic sleeve when youre looking at pipes so you can get a feel for them and test the draw.

I believe a good B&M will have a protective cover for the stem, so you can check the draw on a prospective purchase..... Only makes sense when investing in a pipe & it is in your hand.

Cigarmaster makes a good point . Why has the quality of the Petesons gone down so much ,poor drilling , bad stems and countless horror stories of enough varnish in the bowls to redo a small sail boat . I do not own a Pete and doubt I will buy a new one any time to soon . The price of a pipe should be determined by the grain of the wood and the overall beauty of the briar . If it is good enough to put you name on it make it right . To many companys rely on reputations of old to pass off subpar products . Buy a new pipe and spend more money to repair poor workmanship . I think not or do I .
