i have a roma orange acorn matte finish pipe and i decided to polish it and i thought to use black kiwi shoe polish to darken it and what i got was a cool factor" it darkened it to a light orange brown and it made the grain in the wood stand out like a really cool design then i polished it using lemon oil, which made it a vary fine smooth gloss finish if i let it dry will it hurt the pipe? i just thought it came out really awsome looking

The difference between your pipe and your coffee table is that the pipe, when being used, gets warm. I expect that the next time you smoke your pipe you are going to smell lemon from the lemon oil once the pipe warms up. Maybe it will be light and not bother you, and my guess is that it will dissipate after a smoke or two or three. Still, I'd look for something else to polish my pipe in the future. Carnuba wax? Mineral oil? Others with more experience polishing pipes will chime in and give better recommendations of what to use.

I sometimes polish my pipes with a couple drops of extra virgin olive oil, with no ill effects. I've never used lemon though, but I imagine it would be fine. Lemon is very acidic though, so you might want to keep that in mind.
Got any pics, I'd like to see your results.
