Ordered a 16 oz bag of Ohm Turkish Red on a PC special for eleven bucks and change. A few years ago, a Forums member recommended Ohm to me, though he may have had a straight burley blend in mind, for my burley habit. It's being shipped UPS, and perhaps I clicked on something that requested an email tracking, so I got a nice message saying it will be here Friday, which seems efficacious in the current postal uncertainties, though it may arrive "the last mile" by USPS. Not the usual shipping I am used to.

I really haven't noticed any slowdowns in delivery. We did have one outgoing bill that arrived late but, Chase waived the fee when we called. I don't think one incoming package, by any carrier has been delayed here.

I depend on the USPS for receiving and paying bills including annual property tax, car registration, and utilities, so I am hoping that the system isn't twiddled with any further, and that the downsizing of post boxes and sorting machines is reversed. The last time I dropped a handful of bills into a post box outside a hub postal facility, I found myself worrying that the box and my mail would be carted away to the post box graveyard. It's even worse for extended family in completely rural areas (that provide a lot of the food supply, by the way). The P.O. is, or was, a community center for staying in touch with the world and their own community. It is very dangerous to strand people in rural areas with poor communications and package delivery.

No delays here. Tobacco orders still getting here in three days, puzzles from Asia arriving in five, and just ordered a new phone Monday that arrived today.

I guess anything in a bag can be rolled, but I think many bag blends are cut for pipes and are as good as some tinned, depending on your taste. D&R certainly has some decided pipe tobacco in tins and bags. I'm dubious Turkish and Oriental are big sellers with the rolling set.
Stokkebye Amsterdam is also sold as a cig cut. Nothing wrong with that!

We sold both the OHM and the various Peter Stokkebye RYO at the B&M I worked at in college. The people who bought OHM made their own cigarettes with empty tubes and injectors. The Peter Stokkebye crowd did not use the injectors and actually rolled their own cigs. The PS is of much better quality.

Let us know what you think. I've had my eye on that one. It may be used for roll your own too, but that doesn't mean it won't be a great pipe tobacco. D&R, Five Brothers, and other many other shag cuts are great in pipe, while widely used for rolling smokes.

It seems USPS has been working fine as far as I can tell. Most online orders are on time. Even oversea online orders are on time for me. One issue I had was with German Post DHL. Set of bicycle wheels took 5 weeks. From what I'm reading, German Post DHL oversea shipping is notorious for being slow as a tard. But DHL Express from Germany and other European countries are very prompt and on time.

Interested to hear about your experiences MSO. I quite like D&R bagged blends and think other blends that are considered rolling blends due to the shag cut sometimes get a bad rap. I was in a B&M store recently that sold PS blends and D&R blends as roll your own bulk. The proprietor was actively discouraging people from buying them as pipe tobacco. I bought a few ounces of both and told him they smoke just fine in a pipe and it wasn’t anything new for me. I wonder if one or two of the bystanders took the hint or if they were scared off by the owner. Interesting sales tactics to discourage customers from buying your products. Maybe he wanted them to buy expensive tins instead?

Never tried OHM. Let us know what you think!

Somewhere there are roll-your-own guys saying, "Those crazy pipe smokers are buying our bag tobacco and smoking in their pipes."

I have enjoyed Peter Stokkebye blends for years, LNF, VaPer coins, Amsterdam and others. Fine tobacco and generous prices.
